La Poste and parcel from the UK - is this right?

I had some beautiful golden Marmite, not that the gold added anything to the taste but it looked wonderful. I have broadened my horizons a bit, though acc to my NZ old school friend who housesat for me, that NZ marmite is made by tax dodgers and to be eschewed.

Very probably  . Vegemite is the thing there.

Vegemite is Australian though, in NZ they like to be different and actually when I was there last year I saw several different types of yeast extract called variations of marmite as well as vegemite, just in a bog standard supermarket.

That specific marmite is made by sanitarium who are apparently a cult and tax dodge away with their undeserved charitable status.

The squeezy Vegemite is the same as I brought back for Tory - the big jars are all glass so tricky for travelling as so heavy.

Waste of good Guinness

I’m a kiwi Trust me Marmite will never make it there

If you want Truffled Marmite Chili Marmite Gold Marmite and whatever Marmite then try to find someone with access to the Unilever staff shop in Leatherhead. All the variations and promos will end up there and cost not much. Things like giant sizes too. I enjoyed my time with Unilever but cheap access to giant size and unusual Marmite was wasted on me.

I like basic ‘normal’ Marmite (and Vegemite!!) I haven’t tried the NZ marmite yet, I was amazed at how many different sorts there were - I got that particular one in Oz though. Where are you from in NZ?

Did you know Andy Duncan?

 It was the leftovers from Guinness though, byproducts.

Try sourdough bread with your marmite- your gut should absolutely love you using this combination

I’m not a huge fan of sourdough - oddly enough I find the taste too sour.

Caution, it also works the other way. My neighbour in Ceret sent me 6 bottles of wine which were delivered late by UPS, and I was invoiced duty, VAT and clearance fee. The ‘duty free allowance’ for misc gifts does not apply. 3 bottles were broken (hence the late delivery-they were waiting for the box to dry out.

You can reject the delivery and you’ll owe nothing and can aak them to send again.

Juat make sure aomeone is there to reject it. As even though most delivery companies have rules against it, a rogue delivery driver or subcontractor may literally dump it at the location anyway. So someone must deny delivery.

Otherwise from all points of view you will have much more trouble, waste of time and possibly expense to return it. As if they succeed in leaving it at the delivery address even without a signature if they’re supposed to get one, or with or without your permission succeed in leaving it with a neighbour, technically it counts as delivered so you’re up for more work, stress and potenrially cost to get what’s right.

Far aimpler to juat refuse delivery ie reject the parcel as a whole. Makes things much simpler for you and often also for whoever sent it - pretty sure no one pays delivery charges if a damaged or suspect-damaged parcel (eg deteriorated packagjng, holes or crushed) is refused at delivery. No duty/VAT due either as was not delivered to you.

Ha ha!
There are lots of different sourdough breads on the market these days. Perhaps try a few different ones They all vary in their sourness - or not. Some are quite mild tasting. You might like Jason’s which sell a variety of sourdoughs inc some ready sliced ones. These are a lot milder. We have a great choice where we live as there has been a lot of bakers setting up around here and all their bread differs in taste
plus it is really good for you!
I guess that you must have independent bakeries around you too.
Good luck with your search.
BTW. Jason’s is sold in Waitrose. Their own brand sourdough is not very nice.

This post went from post tax to marmite , yuck and peanut butter !!

Indeed.

Situation normal. We discuss and condense topic A until a critical mass of information has been achieved, then the thread explodes and spreads out in all directions.

It works on the same principle as the atomic bomb.
