Macron remains President… he’s not Resigned… and it’s only the AN which has been dissolved…not the upper chamber
currently as below… it will be interesting to see how Assemblee nationale ends up after the new Vote…

I can’t take any credit for coming up with it . I was guided in that direction of thought by this Tweet…

Very socialist up in Bretagne, just seen the results for the communes in my old neck of the woods, all socialist with RN following behind.
Paris 2024 olympics.
Ignoring the fact that the photo was taken in a different country (Germany, not France) and in a different decade (1936 not 1924), what are you trying to say?

What are YOU trying to say @Gareth ? 1924
Not so much a different decade, how about a different century?
Why have you posted a photo - famously taken from the opening ceremony of the Berlin Olympics in 1936, where spectators performed the Nazi salute to Hitler - and claimed it was taken in Paris 12 years earlier?
When this was pointed out to you, you’ve reiterated 1924. Why?
Are you drunk? My post says “2024” that isn’t “12 years earlier” than 1936.
Get a grip lad and keep off the sherry at such an early hour.
Oops, my bad
Ah well, RN are the largest party here with just over 30% of the vote . Still, many of the surrounding communes have 60% or more for RN.
I also think Macron knows what he’s doing. From the start he was always far more aware of the right-wing threat than other European political leaders. He knows France’s only future is in the EU. He stopped the online propagandising on social media. If he is calling an election now, it’ll be because he has a plan—possibly to forestall a rightward shift in government overall by allowing enough left and centre representation to fight them for another term.
I didn’t think a snap election was a good idea, but I suppose it gives less time for the right to spread their lies the way the brexiters did in 2015/16.
Or hopefully improve.
Today, I’ve been hearing about the difficulties our commune faces re the elections… and it seems we’re not alone…
Personally Stella I think many of these fonctionnaires wouldn’t know what a days work is, compared to the private sector. Very nice people usually, but productivity wouldn’t be top of their agenda
Maires aren’t fonctionnaires.
Apparently 68% of those who voted for Brexit are now disillusioned.
They ought to come to talk to those of us who have really suffered and tgen perhaps they will really understand just how they were misled and the consequences of it.
You couldn’t make this up . Les Républicains are in a right pickle after their President tries to cosy up to RN.
Apparently Zemmour’s lot is in a similar state.
Indeed. Apparently
“According to Maréchal, Bardella explained his change of tone by the fact that the RN doesn’t want to be associated with Zemmour.”
I do find it very amusing that even RN thinks that Zemmour is too extreme.
