Mask mystery

I’ve noticed that, away from the very bright sunlight, both sides of the mask are blue, but the ‘inside’ (by my reckoning) is a deeper shade of blue than the ‘outside’, which is very pale blue.

Here’s the video I followed. Hope you can access it.

I asked genuinely for opinions, I stated my provisional position, Eddie, and I have ‘argued’ it carefully and thoughtfully with reference to significant detail that I have noticed. You seem to have a very limited appreciation of discussion, but are a dab hand at irritable put-downs.

I want to wear the mask in the most appropriate way to protect the public and for no other purpose than that. It’s a pity you can’t see further than your own prejudice about my motive.

Frankly Peter… the idea of the mask is to catch the moisture etc which you exhale and protect everyone else…

If it is possible to place a tissue inside the mask (some come with a pocket) that adds to the “catching”…

The specialist masks which are particularly made to protect the wearer themselves… from a patient/whoever

these are meant to be reserved for medical and specialised use… and will be worn by Doctors in IC etc etc… things like that.

since this film was produced , we have received washing instructions… which make the cloth masks OK for short-term general use… (with or without the paper-tissue liner)

I am and always have been aware of that fact, Stella, to be absolutely frank with you too. :hugs:

That’s why I put the question in the first place.

I’m not a novice when it comes to clinical masks, as you will be aware. But given a bit of essential kit I like to know how it functions optimally, so as to get best use out of it, and ‘save lives". It has been my professional motto for a long time. And I’ ve learned not to take anything for granted.

Frankly Peter…

I was trying to explain for the benefit of all… that however you,Peter, choose to wear your mask… you will be doing the best you can…

You asked a question… so were obviously not totally happy with things as they stood… or as you understood them to be via the pharmacy etc…

However, it is coming to the end of a long, hot and difficult day… for me… so I’ll leave the rest of you to carry on with this …

Go to your internet search engin & tap in fiche technique the make and type of masque & you’ll find all you need. It’s a legal requirement for all EPI or I think in English PPE?

Perhaps you should think of it as a one-way filter, so the way you wear it depends upon whether you are trying to avoid becoming infected or avoid infecting others. That might explain the pharmacists wearing theirs one way, while your logic has led you to the opposite conclusion.

"He killed the noble Mudjokivis.
Of the skin he made him mittens,
Made them with the fur side inside,
Made them with the skin side outside.
He, to get the warm side inside,
Put the inside skin side outside;
He to get the cold side outside
Put the warm side fur side inside.
That’s why he put the fur side inside,
Why he put the skin side outside,
Why he turned them inside outside."

Those masks are designed for medical use, so not the same priorities as joe public. The white materiel is a non-woven fabric that is effectively the filter. It should be as close to your face as possible. The blue is more for absorption of external splashes. And yet the inside gets wet, they are only designed to be worn for a max of three or four hours.

Thanks, Eddie for your attention to detail in this matter. Your evidence has convinced me and I admit my understanding was erroneous. In short, I was wrong and your were right. Finally, I was barking :dog2: up the wrong tree, and you called me to heel :guide_dog: :joy::hugs:

Hey - calm down - the Internet is not a place for such refreshing honesty.

The reusable masks distributed by our commune and the commune de communauté both have comprehensive instructions on how to put them on, tale them off and to wash them.

The only fault is that the spent the money without asking whether we need them!

They were acting with a view to protection… and wanted the people of the commune to benefit. Seems like a good gesture … rather than a fault.

Stella,

Why is it not a fault to spend the money without there being a need?

Gestures are good, need is an essential.

We didn’t need the masks and the money (ultimately the money we pay in taxes) could have been spent more effectively elsewhere

Has everyone in your commune bought their own masks??
