That’s terrible. I think you need to move to LRAR letter and involve the MoI. Email Claire.
Who if you are like me will be told to keep trying the pref!!!
Only a gentle suggestion… might the Maire be able to cut through the fiasco/dross…???
During the Brexit saga there was a lot of local messing about between Prefectures… each reckoning incorrectly that “it” was the responsibility of the other …
Our Maire kindly zapped a personal email outlining the details/request of this Brit, (who was one of his citizens!) to someone he knew at our Prefecture and suddenly there was light at the end of the tunnel.
It still took a little while to sort things, but we were on the correct path and got there in the end.
Were you using the specific contact details for the WA issues. As every time we’ve had someone involve the MOI they have kicked the Prefecture’s arse and something has happened.
You’re Maire must have a good relationship with the prefecture as all those that we know of they haven’t been able to help.
He certainly had a useful contact in those days (a few years ago)… not that the problem was quite the same as that of @toryroo … but it was an eye-opener for me… and useful for the Brits who had found themselves getting absolutely nowhere…
Here’s a snapshot of the situation at the prefecture in Strasbourg at the moment.
Finally!!! My son received an appointment at the Prefecture, we suspect after the intervention of the MoI. He now has official confirmation of his residency status in France (WA CdS) and will receive the card in the coming months.
I am very grateful for the support and advice (not legal advice
) from everyone on this thread, but particularly @kim , Claire and Justine from Remain In France. My heartfelt thanks go to you.
Without your help and suggested course of action I am fairly certain this would not have had the positive outcome it has. I did let the lawyer know that we were indeed able to claim a WA CdS on my son reaching 18.
Great news Dom well done, so very pleased for you.
You managed to get a response from RIFT then?
I’ve have passed the message onto Claire and we are so pleased that us on Article 50 TUE CdS were able to help.

That’s great news Dom. Just to say @kim and I are from https://art50cds.wixsite.com/art50cds not Remain in France. Glad we could be helpful.
Thank you Claire. Your site
https://art50cds.wixsite.com/art50cds
and various articles were invaluable. We have also used your guide on updating address for my other family members. I would thoroughly recommend your site and articles.
Yes, I also spoke to Justine at Remain In France.
So glad it was successful ![]()
