My research method might be to blame but I am having no joy in trying to establish if I might be able to hire a motorcycle trailer from either Belgium or a location on the Belgian France border to be dropped off in la Rochelle. Happy New Year and any ideas?
If be amazed if thatās possible as itās a fairly niche request. One way hire is generally limited to multinational vehicle hire companies who have the logistics network to get them back to where they need to be and Iām not sure there would be one that does bike trailers.
It might be better to look at buying a trailer and selling it when you arrive.
Thanks John. Iāll keep looking however as I once saw a Norauto ad. that Iām sure touched upon it.
Vans are easier to find and hire, could you use a van for the bike?
Where are you at the moment? Ask in a local Norauto they should know. One way hire of any vehicle is pretty rare in France, for a random thing like a motorcycle trailer itās unlikely that there would b3 enough demand.
A van, a scaffolding plank and half a dozen ratchet straps would be my Plan B if I couldnāt borrow a motorcycle trailer.
A strong friend to help with loading/unloading would be an added bonus.
There are a number of one-way van hire companies in France (search for ālocation camion aller simpleā). Internationally I donāt think it would be possible but no doubt there will be an agence in an industrial estate somewhere in France near the border
Not France but recently in the US, my son in law needed to get his HD to the new home from Cheyenne - 2 days ride/drive away and managed to get a specialist collect and deliver service via Harley Davidson to do the transfer. Maybe the nearest dealer of your brand of moto might be able to offer assistance. Just a thought!
As suggested above, trying to find a van hire company that does one-way hire seems most likely to work. Put your motorbike - plus whatever you were going to put in the trailer - in the van . . . .
Do you mean a trailer to carry a motorcycle, or a trailer to tow behind a motorcycle?
To carry a motorcycle and towed by the car.
Thank you.
I will ask the question I asked before but in more detail. Are you starting your trip from La Rochelle and returning there or will it be a one way trip fro northern Franceceith the motorcycle being towed behind?
If all else fails
an excellent trailer, to carry a motorbike, is available to buy through Norauto⦠costs around 2,700 euro.
They cost less than a third of that from Leclerc Auto. I have recently bought one. ![]()
ah, perhaps it depends on the sort of trailer⦠fittings/quality et al
the one I noticed was a ātop of the rangeā one. ![]()
And someone with a youtube account to video it and earn £250 ![]()

To be honest Stella the one I have is pretty impressive. I really canāt see what I could have gained by spending three times as much money.
photo?
I think it has a higher weight capacity⦠and various extras. the Auto talked about it being used for really big machines.
May as well just buy a std trailer of a suitable weight carrying capacity and then you have it for carting around all sorts of other things. Single use is a waste IMO.
