When you’ve not seen any of your family for 18 months and you’re reeling from every day updates of what’s happening in their lives but you’re with them in spirit and hearts entwined…
I first heard of Kid Francescoli via the Aldi adverts on telly, and then stumbled upon this live performance on the Seine that was broadcast on Arte last year.
That has to be the best ever interpretation of the sound of silence…I can listen to the original without registering any flicker of emotion but the disturbed version provokes a visceral reaction as soon as it starts… and throughout… and then echoes in my head for ages after …to the sound of silence
Personally I think the version from the CONAN show is better than the album version - both have been posted previously.
Great nuns. Put’s the Sound of Music in context.
Given most people’s taste, you aren’t going to like this one but I do
(I do like a lot of the others too of course but they’ve already been posted and I don’t think this one has…)
Great song. Brings me back…
I spent a week in Havana a couple of years ago tracing the steps of James Wormold. Lovely people totally screwed around by Castro and the Yanks.
