Funny, I never seem to forget that one, can’t think why. ![]()
My trouble is that I find I often can’t think of the right word in the correct language for the occasion. I have French, American English, and British English all floating around in the brainbox, and although I can think of the word, it’s often not in the right language. Very annoying.
You’re lucky. My annoyance is when I can’t think of any word in any language. Which happens all too frequently. ![]()
Yes, I get that a lot, hunting for a word on French and I don’t even know what I’m looking for in English.
Last night was the best though, watching the French Belgian news last night and I suddenly couldn’t figure out why I no longer understood what was being said. They had started interviewing someone speaking Flemish ![]()
I do understand Flemish but, just for a moment, it simply didn’t compute.
David, which model Doro do you have?
No idea, where would it say that? It is a small fliptop, exactly the same as the one lost in the river a year or two ago.
This is the one I bought for my mother, if that helps.

In the battery compartment?
Just looked at Doro’s current ioffewrings and many new models with 4G available. Howeverr, WhatsApp doesn’t seem to be easily verified which would be a requirement for me as it provides “free” calls via the internet wifi.
Ah yes, above my pay grade opening more than the lid. ![]()
And you are right, no good for linking to WhatsApp, or a gps watch for that matter.
But I have the non-simmed iPhone if I wanted to access that. It was used, and then retired, to set up the Watch and so far have found no need for WhatsApp, but I could transfer the Doro sim again temporarily if I wanted it on the computer.
A little, rather weird update on the Apple Watch which I now wear all the time, apart from occasionally forgetting, mainly because of its clear day, date and time always available. Useful for me because I am forever forgetting such things.
One drawback is that, as it turns itself off at 11.15 every night, after vibrating and showing a warning to ‘look after my sleep for my health’s sake’ and I then put it on charge overnight, is that when I put it on my wrist in the norning it switches itself on without me having to do anything, but, often, although the time is correct the day and date is not. Sometimes I leave it to correct itself later but one day I tried to do that manually and the result was catastrophic because I failed and instead pressed the SOS button. The message then told me it was ringing the emergency services and also alerting Marie-Paule that I had done so. ![]()
It took several minutes of increasing panic trying to stop it happening and switching it off. Nothing further happened, no blue light reflecting off the ceiling, phew.
Now I know that it is supposed to detect if I have a sudden fall and alert SOS, but I have several times dropped it accidentally and nothing has followed. Perhaps it isn’t working.
Yesterday, on returning home and shutting the gates behind me I felt a sudden vibration from the Watch. The message on the screen said that it had detected that I had had a sudden fall and was connecting to SOS. What with vibrations bells whistles and goodness knows what else occurring I desperately searched for the cancellation. Finally found, at the bottom of the screen, the words ‘are you ok?’ and pressed it thankfully. Phew, again.
I think this thing is dangerous, it might get me help after another disabling fall, but has already almost given me 2 more heart attacks. ![]()
