When we sold our last property our prospective purchasers from Paris were mortified when I told them there would have to be a meeting for them to be approved by the neighbours.
That’s why I knew we needed to live somewhere with no neighbours.

Precisely. Small communes are very different! But OP’s possible house is not in one sadly for him so will have to take the longer road.
The neighbors who live the farthest away aren’t always the least disruptive! Loud music, ATVs…

To say nothing of strange natives! I’ve had my fair share of local, how shall I say, bit strange folks over the years from the old girl who used to follow me when I took the dog out every afternoon and then back to my house so I had to literally pus doggie boy inside quick and lock the door to the alcoholics wandering around like zombie apocalypse looking to tap someone up for a tipple and all of these people were women. At OH funeral one woman pushed in front of me trying to take over from the undertakers who were ready to wheel the coffin into the Salle des Fêtes so much so, my son and brother grabbed her and told her to go away, she was off her head and smelled like a brewery.
