My Shiba Inu once thought a lavoir was a green lawn as it was covered in duckweed. He got a shock when he fell through it and I had to walk him home covered in the stuff and then hose him down, that taught him a lesson and he avoided it like then plague afterwards. He never rolled in any s**t though as that breed is very fastidious and doesn’t like dirt

I hadn’t heard of that breed of dog before, so had to look it up. What a beautiful looking dog. I like their traits - Charming, Keen, Alert, Fearless, Confident, Faithful.
They look quite smiley, don’t they?
@Shiba We took our first Cavalier to see some friends who had an ornamental pond that was sunk into their patio. He was only a puppy and he thought the pondweed on the surface of the pond was solid, so he walked straight onto it. 
When we fished him out he was swimming towards us, so at least we knew he could cope with water.

I generally refer to myself as our dogs’ ‘Maître’. ( As I also do for the Notaire.) ‘Maîtresse’, non merci!
For dogs who like rolling for scent, I found an excellent spray product to neutralize -
A chap at the park in Cheltenham once watched Agnes rolling in what we all knew to be fox pee. He recommended rubbing her in Ketchup but I feel the subsequent necessary bathing would all be too fraught. Apparently, ascorbic acid is the key. I hesitate to put anything called acid on my pup

They are not a dog you can ever let off the lead outside your enclosed garden, take my word for that. They “blow” their second coat every couple of months or a bit more for at least three weeks at a time and its like sheep fleece, not just hairs, it needs to be brushed and the pile you get is huge. The Shiba Inu rules the house, ours did but he was also extremely loyal and protected our four cats that lived with him, often getting into his basket with him. Mine developed allergies at 3 years old and had to have two years of monthly injections of the anti-allergen that a research lab made up from his allergy tests, my vet was very invested in the case but it cost us big money on top of the €1500 I paid the breeder for him back in 2007, females were €2000 at that time. Eventually after the allergies were discovered, his only food was a prescription croquette by Hills made only from potatoes but he could have some vegetables and fruit too. I think walking across the fields behind our house when the farmer was spraying the artichokes caused all this as I was ill too with a bad chest and throat for weeks from obviously breathing in the spray it kicked up from the machine. My fur baby looked just like the two in the photo and the sesame colour the same too

I feel sometimes that this thread is meant for me, well, I think it was me that started it in the dim and distant. 
Today’s sad tale is Mondial Relay. I carefully packaged up (I knew those hospital slings would come in handy one day) the laptop for return to Amazon and headed in the direction of the mystery machine. There wasn’t much explanation, even in English and it did not seem to work for me. A young lady who had just retrieved a parcel offered to help saying she knew how to do it. She did, but it still did not work. So the laptop is still with me here and I am about to plead with A to send me some labels for La Poste.
Now, guess what, over to the good news thread…I think. 
I use Mondial lockers a lot and generally without problem. Except that the last was a return to Amazon - as had in desperation resorted to using A against my better judgement. Something I rarely do and never again. So I started the return process and got a QR code, not a code barre. So impossible to use a locker, which I only realised once I’d taken parcel there. Ended up having to cancel whole process and start again.
Point Relais = QR code. Lockers = Code Barre
Whatever it’s called it has turned out well. I have just finished a chat with Amazon and rather than let me use La Poste as I asked they have decided to let me keep the item but still have the full refund. The only thing that would make me happier is if I could get the bloody thing to work properly. Not holding my breath on that but have already decided I can live without it.

The 500€ laptop?? Or am I confused?
A bit confused myself but I didn’t argue and it is nearer 600€ than 500€. Not quite enough to cover Hannes’ bill for the car which is now running smoothly (I think I got off really lucky there). of €870, but it will definitely help.
First job tomorrow morning in the shade is unloading bits from the trailer ready for transhipping the shed in the afternoon and coupling the Partner to it.
Then to the bank to get part of Hannes’ money (he only needs cash for the scrap yard purchases where he doesn’t get an invoice, delivering it to him, including a cheque and calling at the seamstress’ on the way back to collect and pay for my new shorts which have been taken up no less than 12 cms, I do love short shorts, otherwise, what is the point?
Then a quick trip in the Berlingo to the fishmarket and to top it up with diesel to show my appreciation to Mario and Marie-Paule.

I’d do it for security & pease of mind, especially if second hand, you never know what else is lurking in it, it came from Amazon but where did it come from before…

A clean install is always the right place to start, even with a brand new machine. Suppliers often add things that are unwelcome that are very hard to remove later, and it gives you the best chance of good performance and security.

I’ve realised tonight that the unaccountable aching shoulder, sore forearm, random skin prickles and tingling in my right hand are probably non-rash shingles (ZSH). It’s been building since last Thursday when a neighbour’s dog scratched my forearm and I thought it felt too sore for the skin not to be broken. It’s not serious (probably my 4th time with shingles and the mildest yet) but it’s blinkin’ annoying - trying not to properly scratch the itch and break the skin.
I can sympathise with you, had recurring zona for about 15 years (taking antivirals all that time) . I had to be clear of an attack for a year before I could be vaccinated which fortunately seems to be working.

Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. And I was lucky cos it was a Lenovo so less bloatware. But I still can’t get rid of things like strange storage defaults to OneDrive that I left in instead of eliminating…. I should have done a clean install.
