Oh crikey Trump

Yes, of course. What revolting behaviour!.

To make matters worse, he claims today that he was in the most danger because he was the main target and the plane he was on could just as easily have been shot down (despite the shenanigans taken to hide his presence on it.)

Any reasonable operation would have held Air Force One on the tarmac for a couple of hours until Trump had been publicly filmed disembarking in UK

Concideration for others is not a MAGA strong point.

Why is this a question and not a statement?

Because he may not have made that decision.

With Trump Secretly Evacuated, Imperiled Air Force One Became a Flying Decoy.

I caught an interesting point of view online a few minutes ago.

What, exactly, is stopping Trump going for a third term?

It seems there is no block on him running  even if technically he is ineligible to serve.

So if he runs and wins, then what’s the plan?

What law hasn’t he already bent or broken? Is the Army made up of MAGA? The police? ICE? SCOTUS? Who’s going to stop him?

And does he have one of his sons as a running mate? I’ve said before that I think he wants a dynasty.

Oh stop it, Joan Collins, she is even older than me but well within my age range nowadays. :joy:

Elections are run by the states. It is likely that blue states would not put him on the ballot. But red states might. Would it work?- I don’t know. That country is so hosed now I don’t recognize it.

Not the GOP that’s for sure - heck, they’ll probably even nominate him given that - almost to a man and a woman - they have sold their souls to MAGA.

Trump has also been replacing military top brass with people sympathetic to him. Arguably this is a component of just how much of a mess he’s made of Iran, no-one in military command has the balls and experience to say “no” to the man. So when he asks them to help him pull off a coup … ?

Depends if he tried to force their hand. Though the courts shot down the birthright stuff (is that completely dead or is it still grumbling on?) so it might be difficult.

But MAGA might decide that the appropriate voting implement is a gun rather than a cross on a piece of paper and he’ll holler loudly if his name is not put on the ballots if the Republicans actually nominate him.

Then it comes down to the ‘Electors’ that form the Electoral College. Would they vote for a person who is not eligible to stand by reason of the constitution ?
Trump may choose to follow the Putin / Medvedev solution whereby instead of a Trump / Vance ticket there is a Vance / Trump ticket instead.

The way his health is looking, standing as VP might work better. If elected, would it keep him out of prison?

He could also be Speaker of the House. IIRC he wouldn’t even need to be elected to a seat.

No. There is no immunity for Veeps. Look up Spiro Agnew, Nixon’s VP.

The question I was trying to ask earlier is whether Trump is immune to being prosecuted if he isn’t president next time?

He’s not immune, but the odds that he would ever serve any time are miniscule. Plus the way SCOTUS granted POTUS broad immunity (for official acts) would make it hard to find something to pin on him.

Pity it wasn’t at 40 thousand feet.
