It is reported today that, because of a credible threat to his life, Trump was smuggled off the old Air Force One jet on which he was announced to fly from Turkey to UK (complete with press core, white house officials and security personnel). He hid in a catering truck and was whisked off that plane to fly in another private jet for his own safety.
I wonder how the people who did make the original flight felt about that?
There is a macabre, maybe even sick, part of me that half expects to wake up to the headline. It’s not that I want it, it’d create a whole new truck load of problems, it’s simply a recognition of where we’re at and the acknowledgement that there are people and organisations wanting him gone by any means.
Every day, in every way, the US becomes stupider and stupider, and my urge to yell, on hearing an American accent in proximity, “you fecking ejits” becomes stronger and stronger.
I’m not so sure. They would be different problems, but not necessarily worse ones. Trump has an unlimited capacity to create major, major problems himself. So, in this case I’d be happy to ignore the old adage “better the devil you know…”.
If some tragic accident were to remove him from this mortal coil (and give the rest of humanity a break) it might take Vance, Rubio and Hegseth with him. That would give St. Peter some triage issues
A pal told me that one of his son’s pals got bounced by US immigration after they examined his phone. Luckily it was the US border post in Dublin airport. US flights from Dublin are considered domestic. Always a great convenance but even more so when you are refused entry
I worked in Boston, Mass. for a year - a very Irish city, as I’m sure people know. I was surprised by the number of American accented people I met who were from elsewhere; Irish, Italian, Scottish. Very proud of their roots.
I thought it was interesting that Potus was smuggled off into a separate aircraft while all the journalists were left on Air Force One to whatever fate. Typical!
