Appears the Trump Bill has passed. Some amendments to water it down but I think the sub-text remains “dictatorship now”.

It has to go back to the House. The reps who said, “Golly gee, had I known what was in it, I wouldn’t have voted for it” now have the opportunity to vote it down. Sure they will…

Whenever I think the horror that is Trump may be exaggerated, I read something from his own mouth.
During a campaign rally in December 2023, the man who is now US president said:
“They’re destroying the blood of our country, that’s what they’re doing. They’re destroying our country. They don’t like it when I said that. And I never read Mein Kampf . They said, ‘Oh Hitler said that, in a much different way.’” There is more like it. Chapter two, volume two of Mein Kampf , titled The State , says: “The poisonings of the blood which have befallen our people … have led not only to a decomposition of our blood, but also of our soul.”

But wasn’t it interesting that as soon as the election was over, no one heard another word about people eating pets? It was like a miracle occurred!
I think it was clever. He addressed a certain demographic. Harris (and us?) laughing at how silly it was is a bit like Clinton and the “deplorables”. There were votes to be had from making such a ridicules statement. I suppose his who campaign was just a string of ridicules statements. Some more so than others, but they worked.
No one is disputing that it worked. So what does that really say about the American people? Nothing good.
You only needed to be of average intelligence to have seen through the ridiculous campaign promises.
Unfortunately half of the population is, by definition, below average intelligence.
And we are where we are.

Indeed, I expect she and her husband thought that this wouldn’t happen to their sort of people. Thing is she was deported and then re-entered and stayed.
