Oh crikey Trump

While Trump is busy in the frozen north, meeting with Putin to discuss the fate of Ukraine, noisily working towards the Nobel Peace prize (he wants because Obama has one), the great crime continues in Israel

Seriously!#%*^?

The Times Closer Look:

Where did the reports originate? Joe Szlavik, whose Washington-based lobbying firm was hired by South Sudan to improve ties with the US, said he had been briefed on the talks by officials in Juba, the capital. He told the Associated Press that an Israeli delegation planned to visit the country to assess the viability of setting up camps for Palestinians. An Israeli source also told the Haaretz newspaper that there had been “quiet talks aimed at finding a country willing to take in residents from Gaza, but there has been no progress beyond that at this stage”. South Sudan’s foreign ministry has denied holding talks.

Why South Sudan? South Sudan, which became the world’s newest nation upon independence from Sudan in 2011, is seeking to boost ties with Israel after it was affected by US visa bans, sanctions and aid cuts. The country has struggled to recover from a civil war that broke out after it gained independence, when some 400,000 people were killed and much of the country was driven into famine. Despite its oil wealth, it is plagued by corruption and depends heavily on international aid to feed its 11 million citizens. It is also home to a large refugee population fleeing conflicts in neighbouring countries.

What do critics say? Critics of the plan fear Palestinians would never be allowed to return to Gaza and that mass departure could pave the way for Israeli annexation and the re-establishment of settlements, as promoted by far-right ministers in the Israeli government. Human rights groups warn that any plan involving relocating Palestinians from one war-ravaged, famine-threatened land to another would amount to forcible expulsion, ethnic cleansing and a violation of international law.

The latest that I can find is that she was recently moved to a low security unit which (potentially) allows inmates to leave for work purposes - not that she had been completely released.

It’s still the case that any normal individual found guilty of sex trafficking under-age girls would not be given such privilege - but that’s Trump’s America for you.

Trump hires only the best!

Call me naive, but I’d have thought that if Ghislaine Maxwell started ‘work’ again, she’d be back in the slammer tout de suite.

I read some US based tech blogs on a daily basis. Many people who contribute are science or IT based. The frustration, depression and despondency of some people who contribute is getting slowly and markedly worse as every week goes by. It’s sad to hear people fearing for their future and their children’s future in a country which they now don’t recognise. This is what Trump is doing to fairly ordinary but educated Americans. The consensus amongst them is that knowledge is power and the administration knows this and wants to marginalise and control all educated people and the means of education to better be able to control the population by deception. It’s a sad conclusion to make, but who’s to say they are wrong.

Having promised to solve the Ukraine crisis on day one and more recently promising punitive sanctions if a deal could not be reached, Trump Again Chickens Out

His critique of the negotiations highlighted the devasting logic of “a deal is not a deal until it’s a deal”. With such a brilliant grasp of international diplomacy, Trump did conclude that they said some very, very nice things about each other. Probably the nicest things anyone has ever heard. In fact, so nice they might do it again.

Where I grew up he would be described as “all mouth and no trousers” but as he is American I guess TACO Trump is “all hat and no cattle”

Trump is a complete and utter spudwazzock, to coin a euphemism since the words I would prefer to use to describe him are not suitable for a polite forum.

That “summit” was a huge waste of time and US taxpayers’ money, and as usual was intended just to inflate Trump’s ego and make him look like a “statesman”, with the side-benefit of distracting from the Epstein affair and his other misdemeanours.

I’m sure Putin chortled vigorously the entire way back to Moscow.

Trump literally said ’ I love the poorly educated’ back in 2016.

I wonder if Putin took a photo of that black bear that Arbeit Matt Frei pointed out (while saying sagely that they are ‘less dangerous than the brown ones’) to cover their disappointment at the 2 clowns refusing to appear while Ch.4 News was on the air.

Nothing happened at the summit? Read this…

She was no ball of fire (I voted for her) but it would be hard to imagine her being involved in a worse outcome than what has transpired.

Agree with the article, with “friends” like Trump Ukraine really has no need of enemies.

Europe needs to step up a gear or several.

I think INTEL is doomed one way or the other. Unless China invades Taiwan and North Korea does a job on the south. Their problem is they are an end to end chip company, helping them to remain and end to end chip company solves nothing. I was good while it lasted, forty plus years since they were last in trouble, but the model has changed.

Quite the opposite has happened. Those that have stood up to Trump have won, Putin, Kim Jong Un, Netanyahu et al and those that backed down, eg von der Layen, have lost.

In general I would not say any of that list have “stood up” to Trump precisely.

This is not to say that they backed down or capitulated either - mostly they manipulated I think. China “stood up” in terms of tariffs yes, but there was a background relationship and I think China has had the upper hand there for a while, as has Putin.

Was I the only person who so wanted Trump to fall down those plane stairs? (And for Vlad the pute to be sucked into that jet engine he walked past)
