Oh crikey Trump

Listening to James O’Brien & Simon Marks, both of LBC, discussing the shooting, Simon Marks, LBC’s USA correspondent, said he wouldn’t be surprised if Trump brought the shooter to the Whitehouse/Oval Office to congratulate him!

That comment says a lot about you.

Bless your heart.

Look at the airbag.

Spoiler tags for the squeamish.

Unfortunately I think that if there was an election in the US tomorrow, he’d be voted back in.

I think the issue is more worrying, about how many people voted for him and still will. I’m not even sure the number of people voting for him wouldn’t be more than before.

That is what I find scary.

Has anyone also seen that while telling the EU that giant US corporations like Twitter Google and Microsoft shouldn’t have to pay fines levied by the EU for things like their data breaches, the US is now trying to strongarm the EU into giving the US government access to all personal data held by governments in the EU even down to biometrics?

Apparently the threat is that if the US does not get tbis unlimited access to personal information on EU citizens, and practically speaking this will include the data of all EU citizens, the US is threatening to remove EU countries from the ESTA Visa Waiver Program and force the oldfashioned way of any visitor to tne US having to spply for a full visa instead.

I thought his popularity was way down now and the outlook for the mid-terms was very poor for the Republicans

“force the oldfashioned way of any visitor to tne US having to spply for a full visa instead.”

So be it. Not that big a deal - and who wants to go to psycholand anyway.

That will do wonders for tourism, which is already down. I suspect many if not most EU citizens, faced with that choice, would shrug their shoulders, side with Véro and holiday in the EU instead.

I really hope they stand firm on this. Like Vero I have no plans to visit the US until they have normal people in charge. And I really don’t want my data handed over.

You probably already have though, assuming that you have any interaction with Google, Microsoft, Amazon, the NHS (Palantir), …

:frowning: I opted out of having my NHS data shared several times, even before I knew what Palantir are like. But you’re right about the rest, sadly.

The problem with that is it is too “all or nothing” - it opts you out of sharing with the local hospital as well, for instance.

The Democrats really have to get their act together otherwise one of Trumps accomplices will have a decent pitch to get into the WH.

They do but the system is stacked against them at the moment.

Yes like you and Vero, Jennifer11 my reaction is “then so be it” ( and s*d them).

However I do not have so much confidencw that the EU will be strong enough to say S*d off and btw Yes Google Microsoft et al must pay any fines levied against them.

It’s also natural to think if the US wants to play like that, then it’s time we were not so easy for US citizens to enter either. (With apologies to our American friends on here.) But that’s the pity of all these new hateful things brought since the new president - everyone just ends up worse off, consumers are less safe and have more of their money taken from them. And for no good reason on either side.

He seems hellbent on undoing 80 years of world cooperation and prosperity, and peace.

In fact, the cellphone of Ross. It was posted by right wing media supposedly to support the MAGA viewpoint, but it changed mine from being somewhat grudgingly sympathetic (benefit of the doubt) to ICEman to manslaughter or 2nd degree murder.

He obviously saw that the victim was trying to get out of his way. The frantic steering wheel motion away from him was captured by his cellphone camera. She was not a threat. He was looking for trouble.

Was it, or was it the bystander that you can see in some of the videos?

There is a point that a hand comes into view almost as if to remove the camera from the hand of whoever is using it - if Ross was the one holding the camera would that have happened?

A brief perspective on Trump and Denmark.
