There really isn’t much US support for Ukraine. All the weapons flowing now have been purchased by the EU. I’m not sure US intelligence is worth much either.
What did China and Japan do then?
The only thing that I can’t quite decide - and a question which might vex future historians, is whether Trump knows he is Putin’s agent, or not.

They threatened to flood the US bond market with the US debt they owned. European countries holds significantly more debt than both China and Japan put together. Around 2 trillion dollars worth and they could threaten the same. You probably wouldn’t actually have to sell US bonds, the market would react to the threat and that alone could cause economic harm to the US. If you actually started to sell US bonds after the threat then that could cause unknown but serious repercussions in the US. It would of course also harm Europe and beyond.

I love the mention of the Danish boat arriving in Greenland, completely ignoring the European boat which arrived on American shores. Don’t they teach history in the USA or is he one very backward pupil? I wonder what modern Native Americans think of him and his nonsense.
Well, even claiming the US had a claim as “we had boats there as well” - i wonder if anyone has pointed out that a) the Norse were there before, the Inuits even further back than that and during any time period in which the US could have lodged a claim it was a British territory anyway.
None of which matters to Trump - he operates in a fact free zone and just makes things up as he goes along.
To defend the northern coast he would need heavy ice breakers - the US has two I believe and the biggest suppliers are the Nordic countries (unsurprisingly) or probably Russia. The “mineral wealth” is almost impossible to mine given the extreme conditions (and there is a strong environmental contingent - but like as not he would take the same approach as “Disaster Area” and have them shot).
I’m actually surprised no one makes much of Trump’s anti-Midas touch, most things he gets involved in turn to sh*t.

I can’t help thinking that satire is on its last legs. As you say Trump is beyond parody. Private Eye relies on satire and parody for its existence. Their column entitled “Common to all right wing papers” is in great danger due to the daily headlines of said newspapers.

Trump is a bully, plain and simple. He always has been. I read about him decades ago. He would fail to pay contractors then threaten to sue if they tried to cause trouble. They didn’t have funds to fight him in court and were probably often in the ‘undocumented workers’ area , so just gave in.

He did it time and time again - usually citing “poor workmanship” as the reason to withhold payment. I am honestly astounded he could get anyone to work for him.

Going back to the $1bn to join the peace board, what is the money actually for? I haven’t seen whether it has a purpose or is just for a presidential slush fund.
