Yes, he has people to lie for him now. Only the best people have that.

When Trump was elected first time round, I was staggered and watched CNN relentlessly waiting for his downfall – couldn’t believe he could remain in power for long.
Saw a comment today ‘The insanely erratic US president can’t get his story straight on Iran’s threat, when the war might end, and if he’s open to negotiations – or not”.
I remember someone who knew how he operated in his real-estate days, saying that he’d convene a meeting, turn up and demand this that and the other in such confusing fashion that no one fully understood what he wanted, as if it were deliberate. And then he’d disappear leaving them to sort things out, or not sort things out.
Sowing chaos is part of how he always operates it seems and I can’t see how the world can be relieved of this churning chaos except from his death. What signs are there that the Republicans will grow spines and get rid of him officially and for good? None!
Rant over.
It’s difficult to comprehend how in the space of just a few days the maniac has managed to disrupt the entire world with a likely global financial crisis looming unless this ends very soon.
Probably because there was never an expectation of a Trump, let alone a second term. However it’s a wake up call for the rest to grow some and stand on their own two feet or United in the case of the EU. Those lunch club luvvies will have to do some real work.
The US will come off worst long term. Brics bridge will be interesting to watch
Trump has said he’ll not sign any more bills into law until his Save Act is approved by the Senate, a bill which will block 20+ million Americans from voting. Enough for him to win the November mid-term elections later this year.
He may use ICE as well (if the Democrats give way and ICE funding is approved) or the military, to oversee voting booths, and frighten people away.
Using the military in this way could lead to his downfall, but I doubt if the higher ranks will defy him, the lower ranks too. Interesting discussion by Jonathan Freedland of the Guardian - on audio, no text – “Could the US military turn on Trump”?

He recently walked back on that because he knows his Save Act will not get passed. And he would have to sign any funding bill that may be passed as funding for ICE and DHS is currently in limbo.
Edit: The Senate have just passed a funding bill, but excluded funding for ICE and Customs and Border Protection. That will put pressure on Repubs in Congress to pass it.
At least that’s something…but what I don’t know.
I might be one of them, living overseas, depending on how this may be implemented. The requirement to show a valid proof of citizenship to an election official when you live thousands of miles away is rather daunting. We Americans have very limited access to help from Uncle. When my wife died last year and I notified the Social Security unit at the US Embassy in Paris, it took them 2 months to notice and stop the payments. One would think that function is very important- and they are going to help us vote somehow? Not bloody likely.
This sounds like good news about mail-in ballot voting. Is it?

On the day that Buck House confirms Charles will be going to the US, Trump tells the UK to ‘go get your own oil’ from Iraq and Hegseth mocks the Royal Navy. ![]()
We broke it, you fix it.
Words fail me ![]()
Why are the British rigs in the North Sea pumping out crude for all they’re worth?
Must be profitable right about now and not gouging EU neighbours would win back a lot of goodwill.
Remember that any oil which comes out of the North Sea belongs to the companies that drill it and they - not the British government - get to decide to whom it is sold.
Good point.
I’d forgotten that the UK outsourced all strategic industries decades ago.
We just pay for the setup, also the clean up.
So only 20% of the oil goes through the straits of homuz, so we can by some of the 80%that doesn’t presumably?
Well, yes, at highly inflated prices and at the expense of poorer nations who don’t have other options. I’m not sure it’s widely recognised quite what a global cluster this is. The way it’s going, the Ukraine inflation is going to look like a walk in the park.
Yes. Be sure to buy it from the US (at inflated prices, naturally) to drive up the price of their oil that they seem to think is “theirs”. It’s only theirs if they can outbid everyone else.
..or steal it.
Not only that, how long the effects are likely to be felt, people assume once Trump gets bored and moves onto something else things will quickly return to normal but Iran could drag this out for months or years with sporadic missile and drone attacks across the region.
