I saw that but I don’t think party rules permit it, and I’m not sure Graham Brady would accept his candidacy.

Agreed, as I said he is certainly proof that not everybody that has been to Eaton and Balliol is an arse (but probably most of them).

Cough - Wikipedia says " During his gap year in 1991, he served a short service limited commission in the Black Watch for five months as a second lieutenant on probation."

Not exactly Paddy Ashdown is it?

Yes, I wonder what made him switch sides - Wikipedia also notes that he was not pleased when his parents used his proxy vote to support a conservative candidate in 2001.

Arguably he would be more at home in the Lib Dems and would be a considerable asset to them.

Talking of Paddy Ashdown - where have the politicians of his calibre all gone?

Has he actually resigned?

Sort of.

but my quote also referenced his distinguished time as a Diplomat in the same sentence… just to be clear

One would need to be a pretty courageous or mad MP to sign a letter endorsing him. It also looks like they’ll up the endorsement threashold to 20 or 25 from 8 to cut down the field.

Plenty of those in the Tories

One of my favorites. I was watching him sitting in PMQs on Wednesday. How the hell could anyone vote for this man?:joy:

For God’s sake - Suella Braverman???

This has to be a joke right?

Studying the runners and riders and the Form, the pool is very shallow and stagnant - none of the idiots who have thrown their hat into the ring inspire me in any way whatsoever. Most dont have two braincells to rub together.

Is my cynicism a result of finding that I am now actually older than the majority of these Z-listers?

Nope, I kid you not…

Sadly not.

Sunak apparently is campaigning with the slogan “let’s restore trust, rebuild the economy and reunite the Country”
How shocked is he going to be when he realises he has been Chancellor for the past 3 years in charge of the economy and responsible for the current mess? :flushed:
Whilst millions are struggling to heat their homes or decide whether to eat, Sunak reportedly is spending up to £13k a year on heating his new pool

These are dangerous people, really dangerous people.

If he can’t even look after his wedding ring why do people think he can be trusted to run the country? :grinning:

Fun, fun, fun…

“I think the party will struggle to survive this,” said one former minister on Wednesday afternoon. “I think we will split.”
