PM candidates

Interesting view here (as always) from William Keegan - arguing that it was Starmer’s embrace of brexit that freed the right to ditch Johnson - who just wasn’t right-wing enough…

The purpose of the defenestration of Johnson for hardline Brexiters was given away by the attorney general, Suella Braverman. She admitted on the BBC’s Today programme that from her point of view Johnson’s political assassination had been all about Brexit. Brexit? Yes: Brexiters like her, fearing – irony of ironies – that the man who “got Brexit done” was not a true believer in a hard Brexit, this having been the stated reason of the former Brexit negotiator Lord Frost for resigning earlier from the Johnson government. Truth? Morality? Lawbreaking? Our international standing? Not the big issue for hard Brexiters.

I don’t really know much about Tugendhat so I found this interview by Sophy Ridge fairly interesting.

He was against Brexit (perhaps unsurprising as he’s got dual citizenship and his wife is French!) which may count against him with some of his peers.

Jeremy Hunt’s wife is Chinese - why should that matter?
At least they’ll both be well fed :slightly_smiling_face:

Is he not a Remainer too?

I think he’s a flip flopper…

Here’s the start of my new gouvernement! Please feel free to add / change more😃

Yes, I’m looking for experience and worldly knowledge, with a steady hand to handle the good ship Britannia and why not France at the same time . Not coked up young Toffs or left wing hot heads offering beer and sandwiches at No 10.

To me the tone of this leadership electionm illustrates exactly what is wrong with the Uk and why the country is an administrative and service disaster…all about tax cuts not about quality of life and how to delver a better quality of life. As the director of Institute of Fiscal Studies Paul Johnson said today uk politicians are promising a European level of public services based on low tax American system…a circle that can’t be squared! …its delusional

The candidates manifesto’s only have to resonate with the Tory membership so they get elected, most of what they say now can be ditched for a GE.

Can I sleep with Jennifer Arcuri if I arrange a large grant for her business?

Given she seems to have gone full force and with much enthusiasm down the conspiracy theory rabbit hole if her Twitter account is anything to go by, and that she clearly has incredibly low standards, I would like to think you’d swerve that particular aspect of the job description…

Probably, but would you want to?

You’re human. You can sleep with any consulting adult, but better ask Mrs Cox first. To avoid any future embarrassment.
