Best thing about UK being in EU was the counter to the ever increasing Americanisation of UK…have you ever listed to Liam Fox MP fawning!
The FCO and the few of the more intelligent MPs aka Tobias Ellwood, Ben Wallace and Tom Tugendhat have long memories and will never forget or forgive they way the American politic establishment shafted them over the abrupt Afghanistan withdrawal. So love for them and all that is Yank will be tempered for more than a little time and will hopefully stop puppy dog following of their overseas adventures. @strudball is no lover of the attitude and ethos of the politics on the other side of the pond, give me Europe anyday.
And if I listed all the things we lost physical and emotionally
SF would be constipated it’s such a long list.
But in simple terms it’s beyond my comprehension why anybody would support Brexit and still live in the EU!
Brexit supporters on SF pray explain please
Still not seeing the link any link between pro-Brexit and “anti-vax”…
Watched a video of an NHS nurse who worked under pressure through the first year of the pandemic with a lack of PPE and then decided she should probably get the “vaccine” in March and hasn’t been able to work since…
I refer you to my initial post in this thread Helen:
I think it’s very clear that there is a link between right-wing thinking and anti-vaxers - though it’s important to say straight away that it obviously doesn’t apply to all anti-vaxers - there are some vaccine-sceptics among SurviveFrance contributors who are clearly very thoughtful, caring people, and not at all inclined to the right… But if you look at the right of the Republican Party in the US, or among the ERG, or prominent right-wingers like Bolsonaro elsewhere, you certainly find a lot of the covid-deniers, anti-maskers and anti-vaxers, whereas there seem to be comparatively few in any other part of the political spectrum.
As to why, I see it mainly in terms of rationality. The political right has always been linked with the rejection of science and reason in favour of other sources of authority: tradition, inheritance, rank, religion, authority-figures - with quite a lot of macho posturing thrown in there.
I don’t believe for a minute that these broad generalisations apply to you Helen, or to many other vaccine-sceptics - human individuals are wonderfully diverse and unpredictable - but nevertheless, in very general terms, there does seem to be a connection between some brexiters, via right-wing ideology, to covid/mask/vaccine-scepticism.
I don’t know your view of the vaccine(s) but I imagine, from the comments, that you are against.
You mention many people in many groups. How many people are you talking about?
Also, what are your views about COVID-19 vaccination and how did you come to them? I can assure you that you will find a sympathetic and enquiring ear.
I’ve maybe been an outspoken minority of one on another thread and have only replied here as the political divisiveness is something that greatly disturbs me (as does the term “anti-vax”) and is a subject I was attempting to get to the heart of…
@Helen6 Helen, I assume the members of those groups are broadly suspicious of the need for vaccination. Is that right? Would you be able to name the two groups, so that we could see their discussions and understand better? I presume they’re not closed or secret groups.
As for the term “anti-vax” - I can’t think of a better alternative, but if we’re invited to choose our pronouns nowadays, I can invite you to choose your term!
Of course they are closed, they are on FB so you would have to join them. There is plenty of reading and links etc from Helen on the other thread Flaneur to keep you going for a while and.
No…actually the groups are all people suffering covid vaccination injuries so not anti vax…they post memorials for dead family members too as the dead can’t talk except via autopsy of which surprisingly or not there haven’t been many
I guess my problem with the term is that it’s now used to smear anyone trying to bring light and transparency so if they want to get heard by mainstream media they have to preface any discussion with “I’m not anti vax but…”
Yes the pronoun thing is going a bit overboard of late and my American female friends and mothers are a bit pissed off with how breast feeding should now apparently be called chest feeding…I don’t know if this has reached UK yet…???
As Tory said I believe I already mentioned several on the thread about vaccination…
The groups continue to grow…
“ The INFTO is a group of concerned nurses and healthcare workers from across Ireland. We would like to raise concerns about a number of issues that have taken place in our healthcare facilities since March 2020.
Some of the issues include but are not limited to:
The alarming increase in patients of all ages presenting with serious complications such as myocarditis, aneurysms and clotting disorders. The clotting disorders appear to be more prevelant in the legs and lungs of presenting patients.
The PCR testing of terminally ill patients moments before their death. In many cases these patients had been suffering long term illnesses such as stage 4 cancer.
The widespread removal of elderly patients from hospital settings to nursing homes across the country that commenced in March 2020.
The vaccination of elderly & physically and mentally disabled patients without informed medical consent, either from the patients themselves or from the patient’s next of kin.
The failure to accurately report or record the vaccinations administered to some patients on their patient records.
The widespread exclusion and coercion of healthcare workers who have raised concerns or are hesitant to participate in the mass vaccination program.
The failure of management to review, test or acknowledge the potential benefits of treatments such as Ivermectin for those patients suffering with the respiratory infection known as SARS CoV2.”
I don’t really want to trawl through all the pages of the vaccination thread Helen so perhaps you could remind me of the names of the FB groups that have 100K members.
