She’s died age 80. It’s very sad, she was a lovely lady.

I always thought her version of ‘I will always love you’ was better than Whitney Houston’s. And I liked her nails too. Bet she never did any housework

She grew up poor which is why she did a lot of charity work. I suspect she did her share of household chores.

Newsnight devoted almost all the programme to her and her story this evening, with Suzi Quattro and whispering Bob, very nice, and it chose I will always love you, delivered at Glasto, as the sign off. Very touching.

Indeed. Her ethos seemed to be about love and care, using vast sums of money to improve people’s lives while still remaining fabulously wealthy.
The likes of Musk could learn something rather than using their wealth to foster hate and division.

My daughter messaged me yesterday before the news broke in Europe. They were going down to sign the book of condolence in the C&W museum if they could find parking. They will probably rename the airport after her as had been discussed as it has been extended this year to take more heavy planes. We were in Pigeon Forge at Dollywood last summer for a few days, her presence was everywhere and we stopped at Sevierville to see her statue as it was where she lived in younger years. At the Grand Ole Opry they have exhibits of famous stars’ outfits, guess whose was the most stand out-ish and she was so tiny.
Yes, she said that a lot as she could take a joke better than most. Obviously influenced a lot of these drag queens with her wigs and gowns

Outside of music she did a lot with her libraries.
I seem to remember her talking about them on R4 at one time. Taking time to talk about literacy and education rather than plugging her latest release or whatever.
