I doubt that we will hear anything more about it tomorrow, but it takes some eyes off the ball that is bouncng around at Treasury, USAID, Dept of Ed…etc. There will be something even more outlandish later today. Bread and circuses for the masses. More entertainment as 248 years of democracy is being dismantled by high school students with handles like “big balls”.

Apparently the US was letting in anything up to a declared value of 800 - but that was from anywhere, not just China so not sure why UK companies should have been affected.
I’ve been banging in about this (mea culpa) for ages, this isn’t ignorable. This is a new World.
The post war values of our parents, which we absorbed and thought inviolate, have been turned on their head. Genocide is OK, apartheid is OK, war criminals OK, greed is good, the UN bad, etc.
Our moderate EU (and UK) leaders and politicians need to wake up, they are not talking to the masses, and what they are saying isn’t in the right language nor through the right medium. The ascending trends are populism and division.

Is it only diversionary? I’m torn. What’s going on internally is madness, but I can also see Trump dreaming of his Nobel Peace Prize. His legacy, a wonderful, peaceful, profitable Gaza-on-Sea.
Meanwhile Xi Jinping dreams of those lovely semiconductor fabs in Taiwan. A major, potentially catastrophic, exposure for the West.
BTW, look at the three top import categories. All three own goals driven by “shareholder value” outsourcing greed in US corporations over the last thirty years.

USDEUR has moved 2.5% in the last 10 days, more expensive.
However is still up over 6% compared to October…

As an American, I am outraged, disillusioned, depressed, and sickened. Three weeks with this Cheeto feels like three years. It’s exhausting. He’s exhausting. The fall into authoritarian oligarchy was quicker than I imagined would happen. Half of all Americans have lost their humanity.

Some commentators have said this is not a coup - but it’s hard to see it as anything else when the Trump administration is literally sacking (and evicting) chiefs of staff that he does not like. Shades of a certain EU country in the late 1930’s
Once the administration is completely replaced by cronies (and, let’s face it, Hitler did not load the gas chambers personally) it doesn’t matter what the Constitution says.
