Yeah, right.
Like relocation to the ghettos, and thence to camps was “temporary”.

This is a long read, but IMHO it gives excellent insight into how Trumps economic fundamentals were cast, and also why he’s targeting Mexico and Canada, and maybe Panama’s an indicator. It’s the Chinese he’s really after.
Trump actually said that America would do all the clearing and de mining and Saudia and Jordan and Egypt would pay for .it
I noticed that this week is ‘American week’ in both Lidl and Aldi. I wonder if Trump had something to do with the timing? It didn’t look like much was selling, but then you have to be nuts to buy botted hot dogs. They have few things in the collection that most Americans would consider genuine, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Heinz Catsup being the exceptions. The rest are generic copies of junk.
I heard they sell American style bacon during “American week”? Is that true? Or will I waste a trip for nothing?
Just seeing the evil Netanyahu bastard smiling smugly beside Trump makes my blood boil.
I can only take so much and fear I will be forced to take to the streets soon.
I did not remember seeing it my Lidl, but ours is a small one.
With added nitrates and nitrites?
@Nunthewiser thanks. I’ve never been inside our “local” one but I drove past it today and wondered if it was “American Week”, lol. Psychic.
@John_Scully I’ve never bought it here, but in the US I always bought the kind that didn’t have any added nitrates/nitrites. Can you not get that here?
No sugar, high fructose corn starch, etc
Very wise. I’m not sure about here but my annual bacon intake is minimal. A bacon and cream cheese bagel on Christmas morning and a big breakfast once per UK or Ireland trip
Buy from it from a traditional artisanal butcher or charcuterie, perhaps on your local market, rather than from a supermarket. If you ask he’ll also cut it to your preferred thickness or thinness. It will probably be dry-cured rather than brined, so won’t ooze white stuff when you cook it. We also buy our ham - jambon de Paris -not dry-cured - from a guy with a tiny stall on our local market because it’s nitrate free.
Thanks, I will take a look. We haven’t eaten bacon in 10 months but I wouldn’t mind having some every so often…
Don
But don’t ask for ‘bacon’ - that something else, which is more processed! Poitrine fumé is smoked bacon, and if they do unsmoked it’s usually next to the fumé.
Gotcha, thanks!
When I was a student in Manchester (fifty or so years ago) had a Jewish friend whose over-protective parents would visit her from London and she’d have to stash her bacon and tins of smoked oysters at our place.
Have a look at https://baconbythebox.com/
They are in the Irish Republic so no import problems. Excellent bacon that has never been previously frozen so that you can home freeze it. One has to buy 2.5 kilos at a time (10 x 250 g packs) so we make a shared order with friends.
They also sell all sorts of pies, pasties, sausage rolls, and many other things that are probably not so good healthwise but certainly yummy for a treat.
Highly recommended.
Their selection looks great and I’m sure the quality is top notch. The beef in Ireland is amazing and yet it is said all the best goes for export
I only tuck into a steak every now and then, however as I worked around the corner when theses guys opened their first resto back in 1987, I’ve been an infrequent patron ever since. Stunning steaks.
Meanwhile…
This would be hilarious but for the estimated 47,000 to 65,000 people dead. Thousands and thousands of children squashed, burnt and murdered by IDF bastards in tanks and jets using US munitions.
This is a moral outrage and, IMHO, it requires any person of conscience to ostracise Israel and the US at the moment. Just as with Hitler, the World has to stand up and stop this.
