It seems that the convicted felon will say anything to keep his name on the front pages. One notes that this ridiculous suggestion is conditional on the fighting having ended, AND the Palestinian residents having been relocated. So therefore this amounts to a green light to Israel to do whatever they want to get rid of the Palestinians.
Removal of 2.1 million people from their homeland of centuries, actively encouraged by the USA is certainly a new world order.
My wife is so embarrassed that she will no longer publicly admit her nationality.
If after the Oslo accords a form of Marshal plan had been agreed for Palestine, and Israel forced to comply, and money had been pumped in to make Gaza and the West Bank prosperous, there would be no conflict today. But after the right wing assassination of Yitzhak Rabin, Israel decided it wanted it all, from the river to the sea (and a bit more if it can). It’s all about greed under the cloak of religion.
And now he has sanctioned the ICC and people working on the cases against Israel, Netanyahu and his defence minister.
And he hasn’t been in office for a month yet.
Perhaps us ordinary folk should impose our own sanctions by declining to purchase Avocados from Israel or Sweet Potatoes from the USA, or indeed anything else made, produced, or coming from either country. In this house Kindle books are no longer downloaded due to the activities of the boss of said company.
Additionally, how about a flood of letters and e-mails to our elected representatives urging them to be brave enough to openly say that the leaders of both Israel and the USA are simply wrong. It won’t be anti-semetic, but it will be anti-genocidal and anti ethnic cleansing.
I just wonder what route the Yahoo’s plane takes back to murderland. Not sure if the N. African states are signed up to the ICC but most of Europe surely is. A bit of engine trouble forcing a diversion would be interesting to see if any move is made to arrest the miscreant.
There needs to retaliation by the 125 countries that are States Parties to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. Trump himself should be sanctioned.
In reality, this isn’t something we want to put to the test right now. If Netanyahu were forced down and not arrested (very likely) then the system would be exposed as completely broken and would likely fall apart shortly after. OTOH if he WERE arrested then the US would be brought into direct conflict with the arresting country and again the system might well be broken. For this to work at the moment, we need it to give an air of concern and uncertainty to those who have been identified for arrest, but with the world as it it, the ICC’s powers are weak and the agreements upholding the courts power fragile. Hopefully after Trump and Netanyahu are out of power there will be opportunity for the ICC to be more effective.
It is Netanyahu that the arrest warrant is out for, not Trump.
At the speed Trump is moving, not only on Gaza, but on all the other matters, internal and external, there is no time to wait. He needs to be sanctioned now.
if you are hoping for a package of Oskar Meyer you will be very disappointed.
Its streaky bacon alright, in a honey cure. Burns quickly if you fry it at high temperature and tastes nothing like the real thing.
Don’t waste petrol…
I used to buy good, applewood smoked, no added nitrates/nitrites bacon in the US - haven’t had Oscar Meyer in decades. But thanks, I’ll probably not waste the gas. I’m surprised that I don’t miss it all that much. We were supposed to go back in the fall, then the winter - now we’re waiting to see what happens in the next few weeks before we set foot in the US again. It’s too frightening right now.
I would suggest you re-send this post in capital letters (and ignore the people who suggest you are shouting ) . The post is rather close to an unconfutable truth.
If you wish I’ll dig out a german recipe for curing your own bacon. As to applewood smoking - can be done in a BBQ…
no need to fly home for a treat of farmers market bacon. We have cancelled our trip to Miami. I would love to see friends and hang out at the beach…
BUT the tangerine menace is just too much - not spending one minute in the US. Friends are coming over and we meet in Spain.
Just like Mexico paid for the border wall?
American armaments producers made enough money from Isreal
the US can pay for the reconstruction…
And the temporary relocation of 2 million Gazans to the US, preferably a red state… that way they for sure will be sent home once rebuilding is done
@Bettina no thanks, but I appreciate the offer. We left a bunch of our stuff in the US, and we have two kids there (although one is bailing for Mexico in a couple of weeks). Yeah, we’re not wanting to go back after this next trip. I guess we’ll just bring our son over for visits.
I have just collected 3 kilo of locally raised and cured bacon from Bulldog Bangers and Bacon at a local Lidl collection point. Also 2.5 kilos of Cumberland Sausage and a bag of smoked bacon bits. It’s the bees knees.
