Serious stuff is happening under Führer Trump

Yes, we can eat well if we want to, unlike in the States. A President stuffing a BigMac in his mouth isn’t leading by example. The latest issue is he can’t suck up sugared water fast enough through a paper straw.

This idiot needs to be contained ASAP

I think all these comparatively trivial, but headline grabbing announcements are principally intended to deflect attention from the more drastic changes he wreaking (or ‘wrecking’ if you prefer).

I think you give them credit for more sophistication than is warranted Mark. These are scum running wild.

One of the ‘lesser’ Trump bans is trying to stop expansion of public EV charging stations. Do wonder about where his eminence gris, Musk stand on that and is maybe keeping quiet about it because EVs are becoming less important elements of whatever much larger game he’s now playing…?

Must depend on where you live. Our Super U had Avocados from Morocco recently, which is why we felt able to buy some for the first time in weeks. Previously they were all from Israel.
Similar with the Sweet Potatoes. Mostly from USA with rare French ones from time to time.

On has to wonder why we’re getting sweet potatoes from the US when they’re plentiful here. The economics seem bizarre even before one considers food miles.

Tried bacon by the box and their bacon was very good but I didn’t like the Irish style sausages.
Tried Bulldog late last year and their dry cure bacon was great as were the sausages and cured ham joint. The delivery prices are frightening, so it’s best if you can collect which we did in Toulouse near the airport. They have delivery maps on their website.

Indeed. Then there is the garlic that is imported from Argentina. I must have missed something but I had thought that garlic was a traditional French sort of thing. The world is going mad in many different ways.

The most egregious case of “Let’s rack up the most miles possible” was a pack of Xerox A4 printer paper that I bought in the UK some years ago.

The paper was manufactured in Australia from wood pulp imported from Norway.

Second is that bloody ridiculous spring water from Fiji that they proudly proclaim is “sold in 60 countries around the world”.

I particularly like in a thread that started with ‘Führer’ has evolved into bacon!

Yes Jane, I think you’re right. We should boycott any US corporation we can. IMO, that includes franchises , McDo etc. Double benefit, make our point and improve health.

Look at this for dose of American culture…

Full disclosure: I did once eat in Hooters in my naive youf. It was possibly the most depressing meal I’ve ever had.

Surprised it’s taken them so long to discover the Bigg Market.

The only problem is those skimpy staff uniforms will be indistinguishable from what Geordie women traditionally wear on a Friday night out on the Toon in mid-January.

…and here’s the next shoe to drop. The fascists will start ignoring court orders and there won’t be any means to enforce them.
