SFN lunch in Bordeaux 2024

If I ever make a permanent move I’ll put up a marquee in the garden and everyone can come

I can do similar if people are prepared to venture north (which I doubt  )

We’re in the Morbihan so quite far North.

That’s almost local for us! A lot more local than Bordeaux at any rate  Perhaps we need to organise a RDV for the Brittany/Normandy area or somewhat wider  Mind you, I’m not absolutely sure that the northern SFNers would be all that interested…

It would have to be part of a touring holiday for us as we don’t normally get that far North, but I’d probably be interested. Unfortunately, can’t make it on the 12th this year do to circumstances beyond my control.

All welcome to my “dinner for one” (a joke some may get…) in the eastern reaches of France where no SF’ers seem to be.

A northern meet up is a good idea! If I am in the area I’d love to pop in too!

Bordeaux - can everyone who is DEFINITELY coming please EMAIL me with their real name and number attending and I will then make a definitive plan.

Email is cat@kingswharf.net

Cheers!

Unfortunately I can’t make it . Up for a northern meet though.

Also up for a northern meet!

If people are interested in a northern meet, we’d better pick somewhere reasonably accessible. Ideas anyone?

Mayenne maybe, or Fougères.

Vannes would, naturally, be very convenient for me - but might be a bit of a long trek west for most of the northern crowd.

Same here, if I / we organized a Burgundy meetup I think it’d be only @Jane_Williamson and maybe @Ancient_Mariner, whilst on holiday that lives in a 200 km radius

Indeed, although the western side of Paris might not be a bad meeting point for some of us, at least manageable in a single day.

I’d propose east of Lyon for a meetup within reasonable distance for the 2 Janes, you, and our good selves.
Unless you’d prefer Vezelay, plenty of things to see and do, no problem for hotels Gîtes etc.
My favourite restaurant, though there are many more…https://www.lechevalblancvezelay.fr/
A bit about the place.

Mairie de Vézelay -

For the more sporty amongst us.
I can organise a rando from a couple of hours to a full day with a picnic, either on foot or a gentle hack on horseback, for those that do not ride, horse and carriage.

Even more of a stretch for me than Bordeaux is (though I realise us Northerners are not the target audience for a Lyon meet up).

I suppose it only goes to underline the fact that France is a big place.

East of Lyon sounds like the title of an old film.

I wonder if it would be worth starting a new thread to gauge the level of interest/location for a northern meet? What do you think?

I was thinking of a regional meetup, Jura / Savoie / Burgundy.
I know a few Brits / Irish / other anglophones in Burgundy, but only 3 on the forum. Maybe others are readers and waiting for such an occasion.

Deutschland’s favourite Christmas movie…

You’re thinking of “Krakatoa, West of Dijon”. It didn’t win any Oscars.
