For the past several years our French tax forms have magically appeared by post, around this time of the year. We duly filled them in and in due course receive a nice letter from M Impots telling us our final position.
For the last few weeks I’ve been eagerly looking forward to M la Postes delivery.
Someone recently told me that I now need to download and print them, as they will not be posted now.
Can anyone confirm with certainty what the current situation is please.
Secondly, would the forms or a print of the download be available at France Connect?
You can get all the forms from impots.gouv, but NOT YET! They say the current year’s one will go live on 23rdApril. And paper ones have not yet been sent either in the majority of cases,
Probably, since the end date is by department too.
Just for more FYI, it’s the same date for all of France for paper returns - it’s just the online which is staggered - to ‘avoid overloading’ the website evidently?
Good! my post wasn’t meant as an HMRC criticism - I can see now how it can be read like that! Was referring to the vast computing power deployed by them each January 31st.
Though on reflection, I might have unintentionally made quite a good joke at HMRC’s expense
Sorry but I couldn’t help chuckling at the thought of the tax man chasing you down the towpath with the docs clasped in his hand, and only succeeding when you were held up in a lock.
As far as I am aware, it is up to the individual to ensure that he/she knows the deadline for making Declarations and ensures that said Declaration is made “on time”. No excuses like “I didn’t receive the paper…” will be accepted.
They will send it to whatever address you have given them.
You will make your own choice about what you do, but whether you receive a paper copy is a separate matter to whether you have to make a return: making a return is your responsibility, per Article 170 of the Code général des impôts.
