Do you think they discontinued them & then reintroduced them as a smart new novelty thing? I was allowed to go to the midnight shop on the King's road by myself from the age of about 6 and had a very keen eye for trashy things & I can't remember seeing them. Golden Nuggets cereal & creamola foam, on the other hand (not to eat simultaneously)... Oh and Cadbury's mini swiss rolls, those were a good trashy thing too.
I don't think that is correct, they were around long before I came to France in 1991
I recall the pop-tarts, mum used to put a few on a plate along with ginger nuts for anyone stopping off fo a cuppa. Ironically she loved baking but found the ready made stuff convenient. Oh yes, Mr Kipling was a great favourite also.
Keep taking the tablets Ian...
Did they really have POP-TARTS in GB in the 60s? I thought they were a great novelty in the 80s or even 90s in GB. I haven't ever tasted one though.
In fact this really bothered me (as a child of the 60s, you see), so I looked it up, & acc to Wikipedia:
"Pop-Tarts were introduced with fairly substantial marketing to the United Kingdom in the early 1990s, although they have failed to replicate their U.S. success."
Your jigsaw is rewriting history!!!!
And that Philip Harben geezer :)
Delights from Fanny and Jonnie Craddock.
Aye that's them ! Blimey this site is better than Gault & Millau - what with Christine showing me pics of sizzling rashers too :)
Fray Bentos ! Loved the taste, hated the texture.
Strangely enough, I keep seeing images of those tinned steak and kidney pies, the flat ones....
