Look just above, or to quote myself 'I thought Fray Bentos was an English name. Then I crossed the border from Argentina to Uruguay and found myself in the biggest meat processing city in the world, namely Fray Bentos. I have never been so keen since. Nothing against Argentinian beef processed in Uruguay but the fact it is transported round the world in cans :-('
I looked it up and it is, translated, the Beef Processing Corporation of Argentina, Fray Bentos, Uruguay. Mooooooo!
I didn't know, to be honest (not a great patron of tea rooms) but according to their website, they have a whole "Highland Village" up there, including eateries. May just visit it, although Fochabers is some way from Aberdeen. Takes a while. The roads aren't up to French standards, I'm afraid.
Is there still a tea-room at the Baxters factory in Fochabers Al ?
Must have missed this excellent advice, thanks Peter :)
Ah good man, weren't Fray Bentos Argentinian or something?
You'll be reassured to know that Fray Bentos is now owned by Baxters of Fochabers, the iconic Scottish brand that brought you Royal Game soup. I always keep a few in the cupboard. Haute cuisine indeed.
According to the Urban Dictionary - A Dogger is a jogger who runs with a dog !
Maybe you are thinking of Dogging which is something completely different Steve !!!
Sister says I am wrong (again).
Jammy Dodgers Barbara, think doggers are something different.
Oh jammy doggers was not a name for people who pushed into queues.
The fatty corned beef which sat on a wooden table near the cheese and
was sold by weight. Spam ugg.
Could buy them at our local bakery too Peter.
Weetabix with butter and sugar spread on it. I do not have a sweet tooth but my sister would have a couple a go Steve.
Sounds disgustingly tasty !
My mum used to make a kind of Frosties & Treacle biscuit - it stuck to everything !
Vague recollections of spreading butter on Weatabix...........
I was the same with Malted Shreddies - I would eat a plateful without milk
...I would now if I had a packet handy !
Not that I can find any proof. Will ask my sister.
Golden Nuggets, now there is a rave from the grave. After smoking whacky stuff, we scoffed them with relish straight from the packet. Ah, the joys of youth squandered on cereal without milk!
In the days of no beards in kitchens too...

Can't for the life of me remember "Savemore Supermarkets" !
I didn't realise they had made a come-back actually, just assumed they died a death.
