Reuters is part of the trusted news initiative (along with the BBC)…with members of the Pfizer board sitting on both…conflict of interests
“ Missing context. Scientists told Reuters that while mRNA vaccines can be considered “genetic-based therapy” because they use genetic code from COVID-19, they are not technically gene therapy. This is because the mRNA does not change the body’s genetic makeup.”
Not semantics. Gene therapy changes your actual genes so that, for example, they don’t cause conditions which might kill you in the short term like haemophilia or cystic fibrosis (and they remain changed so for example you can transmit an altered version of a gene to your offspring, eg not transmit the aforementioned haemophilia or cystic fibrosis).
The technique used for the vaccine doesn’t do that.
So what is it doing when so many are suffering blood clots and myocarditis and pericarditis and heart attacks and strokes and thrombocytopenia and Bell’s palsy and paralysis and skin conditions and reactivated dormant virus and menstrual changes and an uptick in cancer etc when we were all told that every death from covid was a tragedy (which I agree with as there was always early treatment) but now it seems that every death and disability by vaccine is somehow ok…???
(Edited to add that part of my comment is appearing within the quoted text and I don’t know how to change it…not a techy…sorry)
@james As the originator of this thread I feel that enough is enough and if possible James I would be grateful if it could be locked. The discussion now (and for quite some time) is going nowhere except in an endless, tedious circle.
I believe you started this thread with Brazil where a health minister has just been arrested for taking bribes…??? Do you not want to know the outcome of that…??? Do we not all deserve to know the outcome of that…???
No Helen I do not need to. I lived in Brazil in the 70s. I know what Brazil is like. The fact that someone is taking bribes has nothing to do with the stats on the success of a vaccine programme. Excuse me if I sound cynical, but I was arrested on a false pretext in Brazil and it was only because the “fixer” of the company I worked for came and negotiated with the local police chief that I avoided going to prison. I know more than most here about bribery in Brazil and how it works.
goodness me… this thread goes backwards and forwards and then round and round…
It’s clear that for each person who says … "I know someone who, blah blah blah…
there is another person who knows “someone” to whom the exact opposite happened.
I’ve tried to take in all the arguments here… but nuff’s nuff…
I think probably these unfortunate people would have got these things anyway but they are desperate to pin their ill-health on something, and (I think) that correlation isn’t necessarily causation. Maybe for some of them there is a link but how many can really prove it?
I woke up with a headache 72 hours after getting my 2nd dose but that was due to excessive carousing with daughters in Paris celebrating the arrival of my first grandchild ie a good old hangover, and nothing to do with being vaccinated.
No doubt that would be too prosaic an explanation for these people but it is the true one.
I said before, the topic was about the benefits of vaccination, if Helen wants to go on and on about the vaccines downsides and all the other anti vaccination stuff, why does she not just create a topic for that purpose and keep in all in its own topic.
Do this instead of everyone having to mute a topic and miss out on any good news about the vaccinations.
If that comment is aimed at me John, then no that’s not the reason for me - I don’t get “pinged” - I haven’t accepted that option.
My concern is the sheer repetitiveness now of the discussion, which just frustrates and is going nowhere, As I said earlier (much earlier!) it’s like a pantomime farce - OOOh yes he is, OOOh no he isn’t.
Valuable input in terms of what vaccination has to offer stopped a long time ago and the topic has been hi-jacked into a “I know better than you what’s going on in this world” type discussion. There is no listening /rapport, only ranting.
I get pinged, would like to stop that.
Whilst any new information would be useful I do agree with you at the to and fro is pointless.
There are concerns as to why certain treatments to reduce the symptoms havent been trialled but they do not alter the fact that its better to vaccinate until such time as another treatment is proven to have equal or better effects.
Ivermectin hasn’t been trialled despite the UK having a paper asking the questions and looking as if they were back in April. So there are some questions to ask.
The cases of problems for some are reported properly without histeria in the last article I linked to, these are being looked into and hopefully some tweaks made as time goes on but the numbers are tiny compared to the success but there are always wise after the eventers.
At the time I believe the world was grateful for what we had and if we hadnt got them when we did the death toll would have been incredible.
Hi John, I think you may be able to set it/change it in your preferences in you profile pages. One of the categories on the preferences page is Live Notifications - I’ve denied permission. Maybe look there? What have you got yours set to?
Thanks for calling me a ranter.
I take the view, which is fairly well supported on here, that vaccination is the foremost in our armoury against Covid and we have one highly vociferous opponent of that view who obstinately refuses to accept that view.
IMHO I think that they have had more than enough time to propound their dangerous and anti-social argument.
