The Brexit fanatics are at the helm, but don’t despair - this is not over

Very wise Stella, if you are at any time suspicious of a link try this https://www.scamadviser.com just enter the link address into the search box.

I had a look, only a couple of examples from way, way back as far as I could see.

Exactly how have those ‘scandals’ (lol) affected you personally @anon29800096 ?

I guess I am just not a lemming!

Oh dear, making excuses again. Unelected advisors advising the Prime Minister directly, just what everyone voted for. Shame they were so bad.

Affected me ‘personally’ explain how that is relevant, no don’t bother, what a silly question. its not about me its about corruption in EU generally.

Ok so you vote against something that hasn’t adversely affected you. That makes sense duhhhhhh…

Those two were never elected I’m not making excuses, just stating a fact, you’re the one that brought them up.

But you see things so, so, so, so differently from so many of us perhaps we were hoping for an insight into just what it is that we are missing. All I’ve seen today is inaccurate comments and gutter press headlines recycled.

Are you really that dim or did you do a course.

Oh so if it doesn’t agree with your blinkered opinions then its recycled gutter press, then of course this must be gutter press also https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2014/oct/12/rail-privatisation-dutch-and-german-companies-took-uk-for-ride

Of course Eu negotiators have done so well in the past… Donald Tusk for example, European Council President, who has given millions to Poland who in turn have squandered much of it, for example building 3 new airports that are useless as they do not have the business! Just one example!!!

More ‘gutter’ press headlines full of inaccuracies according to you.

Goodnight.

Run out of Pastis?

@manyana Leonara luvvie I think you need to keep up to date. The 3 airports you refer to in Poland have all done amazingly well over the past 3 years and are forecasting even greater growth in the future. Build it and they will come!

Please stop regurgitating biased old news articles

Not exactly wht I read from 2016 news

Or perhaps this report

http://www.politico.eu/article/eu-wasted-money-on-new-airports-say-auditors/

I expect that they are all lars!!!

I don’t think they’re liars @manyana - that’s a bit strong! Just out of date. We can all use Google - just look up the stats luvvie.

Do you have family in Poland - is that the reason Polish airports affect you so badly?

It might help Leonora take a more objective view if she reads this page (it must also exist in English but I can’t find it) http://www.europe-en-france.gouv.fr/L-Europe-s-engage/Fonds-europeens-2014-2020

The EU’s investment policy never set out to make a quick buck, it looks to the long term and its objective is to help countries that are struggling now, improve their economy so that in the future they will become a net contributor to the EU.

Of course you’ll find investments that don’t start paying off quickly, you’ll also find investments that never pay off because sometimes people make a wrong decision. The EU doesn’t have a crystal ball any more than the rest of us do and as the small print always warns us, investments can go down as well as up. Whatever organisation you decide to do a witch hunt on you will likely find a few poor decisions and bad investments in its history, not many organisations get every decision 100% right. That’s the challenge of running a business and it’s the same challenge for the EU, yes it could do better and it is aware of that and has reviewed its strategies quite recently, but overall its policy is not going to change because it’s what the EU is all about - to invest in its members for future growth for the benefit of all. Are you saying you don’t agree with that policy?

I don’t think the UK ever really “got” the fact that trade deals is only a small part of the picture. Which IMHO is why Brexit could potentially have been the correct decision if it had been handled well, because being part of an organisation when you don’t get what it’s all about and don’t share the vision, and instead of being positive and constructive, championning the vision and appreciating the successes, you focus exclusively on finding fault and using them to slag off the entire policy, is never going to be a comfortable relationship. Would I be correct in saying that pretty much the only time EU investment gets a mention in the British press is to ridicule it and hint at EU incompetence or corruption? Whereas in France, EU investment decisions are routinely reported on, from the discussion stage through to the final decision; France is genuinely interested in how EU funds are invested and doesn’t begrudge every cent it contributes like the UK seems to…Any member who has that attitude will end up bitter and twisted, and the organisation can do without the negativity.

Just my opinion of course.
