Still like an oven down here with about 2 mins of large fat drops Friday night, one clap of thunder from over the Canigou and that was it. The bird poo was still on my windscreen from earlier when I got in the car at 11pm to go home. Fire risks have been elevated to red again and uncaring tourists are a big threat with their throwaway mentality
That reminds me of visiting a friend at his gliding club in Northern Ireland. Their forecast was ‘If you can see the mountain, it’s going to rain. If you can’t see the mountain it’s raining already’.

It’s the same here. We had one minute of fat rain drops this morning and I think that’s it.
That’s my jet washing a mouldy patio after marinading it in javel look.
Power came back on and stayed there around 2am. Had several hours of steady rain and a mad 5 minutes of wind that almost had me convinced it was a tornado.
The rain gods finally heard my prayers and after a rumbly storm with not much rain, later on from about 10pm to midnight, we had gentle steady rain. Thank heavens.
If you bring rain and cooler weather, you’ll be more than welcome

We had rain yesterday afternoon, for a few minutes, then last night a big storm with wind and rain. OH said it was very noisy. Meanwhile I heard nothing ! But I never do.
We had a short heavy burst last night. Oh cked this morning and it was 7mm. So happy with that on top of the odd other bits in the last week or so.

Appalling wildfire smoke in our valley this morning (Lot et Garonne). Hardly any wind, so not going anywhere - worse than when we had the smoke from the wildfire the far side of Bordeaux.
From the Ventusky website it looks like it’s coming from wildfires in the Landes - given the direction of the (light) wind which is blowing up from the south and west. Not a day for being outside.

Over the last 3 days the heat got to me, in the afternoon into evening when indoor temps were prolonged around 30°C, and not much cooler in the bedroom. I’ve become acclimatised to hot temps but didn’t reckon the development of dizziness and vertigo whenever I stood up. Really thought something was very wrong with me, until just short of midnight when it all went away. It coincidentally went away after a second dose of electrolytes and a glass of water. Feel fine and back to normal this morning.
Heat reduces BP and can also affect the balance mechanisms in the ear both of which can make you dizzy or see the room spinning when standing up. Good to know but frightening to experience.
Been pouring with rain since around 5am this morning, and still is! Dull grey sky and a light breeze.

A year ago, I drank too much water during that hot summer and ended up with lack of sodium in my blood, followed by several blood tests until it was back to normal. My doctor was very vigilant.
It’s a sort of knife edge. Too much or too little. I recover quickly from general ailments so am not too worried.

I had the same thing a few months back, I was hardly drinking anything as I seem to be able to go for a long time without doing so and it was making me dizzy even when lying down and then wobbly standing up. Read about this so started to force myself to drink more and have kept it up and not been like that since. Its not a case of worrying about the toilet either as I have a cast iron bladder honed all my life from an aversion to toilets other than my own and lots of pelvic floor exercises after having the babies which I still do every day.
