Evelyn didn’t forecast any for us last night
Back on topic. 18C in 27, Eure, at 08hr00. We had a proper thunder storm a few nights ago, but that was the first proper rain for a couple of months. Normandie la verte, is now more Normandie la marron, I guess. Hosepipe restrictions have been in force for weeks.
When I first bought my house the pond would fill, and normally flood over, every winter, then the level would drop in the summer. A pair of ducks, and a couple of moorhens were more or less resident. A few years ago the pond did not fill to the top, dried out totally in the summer, and has not filled up any winter since. no ducks nor any other such for two or three years. It really seems to be climate change before my own eyes.
Evelyne, is that the blonde lady on TF1?
Yes. Would you believe she is around 75 years old but I find her easy to listen to and she explains weather activities very well unless the new bloke who mumbles badly
She doesn’t look her age, I have to say. Elegant lady.
She was actually born in Koln. When I mentioned that in a routiers restaurant I was nearly lynched. Nearly as bad as suggesting that BB was less than royalty!
She has a germanic look actually and her blonde hair looks natural and not out of a bottle.
Oh, Evelyne!
Spent yesterday on the coast around Ouistreham (Pegasus Bridge etc) with my brother before he went home this morning. Just about the right temperature for sitting outside with a few beers. Overcast but dry this morning and just setting off for home.
My Mac writes before I do and put the English version of her name
There are many Merlin addicts on here.
We are renowned here for thread drift, Brian, but better if we don’t stray too far or for too long. ![]()
By all means start another thread if you can find the right category but I’ll just reply here briefly. I look forward to hearing of your travels to the east, to Vietnam will take you close to my son who lives in Bangkok from where he urges me to go there but my travelling days are over.
Morocco too, and we might meet up if you have time as you pass by to the west of me.
The hide is to watch birds of which there are hundreds in the trees but they lie low at the approach of a human, so I will become a voyeur. I have been pointed towards Merlin and it is on my to get list.
Now, back to the weather. Hot. But rain in the Dordogne on Thursday. ![]()
Good stuff, I was only introduced to it a couple of months ago, and find it excellent.
I have a day or two in Bangkok on the return leg.
Is there any sort of foreign trip thread here? I can’t see one at first glance. Maybe it is not of interest to many here?
Be nice to see you sometime, after chatting about trucks and other things previously.
If you go to the top right of the page and click on the 3 bars it will take you to a list of which the bottom right is All Categories. That will then give you a list of them all and I would suggest that Travelling to and From The EU is the most appropriate one.
Let me know when you are heading south to Morocco and which route you take, A10 or N10 for instance, then if you have time I could meet up somewhere to the east of you, If you have a 4x4 camper sounds like the one that Dave (Digger) in Perth used to have.
The temp is a bit down here today, 29 above the pond and 22 in it. I have just had my customary 28 metres in it on the way back down from the bird hide site where I have been hammering away fitting the floorboards. No fun, bent double, but has to be done, and then just the roof to go on, but no guarantee I will beat the rain due on Thursday.
I left a load of tools outside but even that didn’t make it rain.
I hung out some laundry. I think it may be working…
It worked. My clothes got wet. Then it stopped as soon as I had picked them all.
Super nice, where are you going? I was in the North last year on a sentimental trip to see where most older members of my family were born. Delightful people, stunning things to see and wonderful food.
And Aus is fab ![]()
Fully organised trip as I have no connections there.
Hanoi to start. Trip to Halong Bay and overnight sleep on a junk. Sleeper train to Hue. Hai Van pass to Hoi An, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City. Then a flit over to Phnom Pehn. Siem Reap for Angkor Wat. Up to Bangkok.
For Aus I have nothing booked at all.
Morocco, I feel confident enough to just drive down there alone at very short notice. But most trips are better shared IMHO.
