Already reached out to local AXA agent, but everything is left to us, take photos, get contractor quotes etc.
Much prefer policies where-by the insurance company appoints a contractor etc, live and learn I guess.

Yes, but gentle walking is surely permissible, officer?! Seriously, I’ve read on UK hospital guides (for those burdened with surgical corsets) that moderate walking is fine, as long as it’s not strenuous etc, and pain should be the regulator of what is comfortable and what isn’t.

Blowing a hooley here in 24600, but the rain isn’t too heavy (at the moment). Have had a leak since October and the builders luckily found a moment to come and replace tiles yesterday afternoon, but we are still waiting for our roof and guttering to be properly repaired after the tempest in June 2022 . Insurance company chased weekly but they get no response from the loss adjustors!
just be extra careful… even nimble-footed folk (without surgical corsets) are being advised to stay indoors as much as possible… during this wild weather

Well that was interesting, Funder, howling winds and torrential rain Mother nature doing her bit, it seems to have gone very quiet so I’ve just opened the garden door and poked my nose out still a bit of rain about, the wind has abated and is that it or there more to come?
Like it or not we needed this rain yes it could have been a little gentler and less wind but Hay Hoe, we ain’t going to change it, I’m hoping I’ve got no damage and those with damage I hope it’s slight and easily sorted, so fingers crossed that’s all the nasties for tonight.

I was woken around 3am by the bins being blown over but got up this morning to see the bins upright and one of the driveway gates demolished. 
No wind to speak of but still piscolating down. There was a happy break yesterday long enough for Jules and I to have a dry walk.
One further, unexpected casualty of Ciaran. My lovely old barometer couldn’t cope with the acute changes in pressure ahead of the storm, and has finally given up the ghost. It has a small metal plaque on it commemorating the retirement of one Cecil Franks after 68 (sic) years of sterling service in 1948! So it’s done pretty well for 75 years. Sadly you don’t seem to be able to slot in another functioning one into the existing wooden surrounds without damaging the latter, so I’ll have to look for a replacement.

Noooo! There are plenty of old-school clock makers and jewellers who will be able to fix it easily…

We are on the very edge of this awful weather system.
It is windy here but we can see the rain clouds just a bit further south.
I can see two kites enjoying the windy weather.
