There could be room for a great guide to superb places to stay in France

I am currently putting together ideas for such a product/project to advance from Uk

to here in France.

Well just an idea.

Will have to go it alone or in a different direction.

I have sent you a private message.

Do you need to get involved with RSI?

We are with RSI the problem began with the accountant.

But that was history and a very unpleasant part of history.

We had another accountant .....a british highway robber.

The one which we have now is great....long story ....but I

NOW have faith in accountants once more.

I have had so many problems with the CPAM that I do not want to get involved with the RSI.

No not suggesting you do B and B but setting up here does not seem

so bad.

Jim only wants to operate the gite and we do not do B & B.

I have my hygiene certificates, actually x 2, because I took it when I started to cater professionally and then again when I took my professional courses, wrong way round I know, but I have also taken a residential course given by the Tourist Board.

My mother used to run a guest house, so I know how not to do it as well!

If you opened a school you would have to get a different liscence

but for the occasional event.

You are helping the local economy b.....By the way Jane.

Dinner for example....

Chiiled soup of some kind

and then a French style chicken dish or

something which has not too much fuss attached to it....

Then they can sit down in their garden or whatever and eat it...

OR it with you....just depending on how you want to do things.

PUD.....local seasonal fruits...WHATEVER.

This could be a way to motivate some of the SF PEOPLE

who need to do something different.....

A meeting somewhere ever year for members of the group????

Just thinking allowed.

Do any of you know about the difficulties of operating a catering

establishment in UK ....you can not serve meals easily.

It is not easy.

At least here you can open a simple b and b and pay a small tax?

Jim has just said that perhaps I could give a dmonstration.

I would have to be registered to teach if I gave lessons, french bureaucracy strikes again!

Yes cheaper.

It may be possible to gather people from SF to help.

regional managers who will suggest places and create the editorial.

I Like the idea of you giving a very short cooking class in your kitchen?
Because you can cook.

I was thinking that something along the lines of Alistair Sawday, but hopefully cheaper.

All over France...covered by a team.

It is my idea offered to a publisher....established in London.

Will only happen if they feel my presentation could work.

It would be of a similar nature to Alistar Sawdays guide

so the property owners and owners of special camping type

projects would be firstly chosen, accepted and they would have

to pay for the upkeep of the project.

I would be delighted to be part of it without any financial gain.

Photos, photos, photos

THEY need to be excellent.

Presentation is a huge part of gaining reservations.

We work with 3 companies and the the commission varies from

10 to 20% of my revenue before taxes.

The company which has achieved the most reservations for us this

year has urged us look closely at our photos.....their visual presentation is

superb....It is just like being in the room or garden.

This co charges the 20%.

So take a really neat and tidy cottage .....mainly white or cream

and a flutter of colour and flowers.

Offer a taste of local ingredients for the clients on arrival....

dinner prepared by a really good cook and include that into

the structure of the price.

Extra work....but just a little different from the place 10km

away.

Sounds a great idea but what parts of France would you cover?

We have excellent photos and tok expert advice when Jim was putting together our website.
He has taken photos of our potager, but has not yet put them up, despite gentle reminders.

I have to formulate the idea first.

Have you had a look at my place Jane?
Thinking about the photos....photos sell the product

I have been learning from the experts.

You have to believe in what you are selling.

I have taken bookings for next year......so must be doing

something right.

You can find us at www.relax-in-rural-burgundy.co.uk .
We are well booked for the height of season, but it is our first real year and would like more business in the shoulder months.
Perhaps the Guide would do it?

And Jane you need do no more.

I know about bureaucracy French......but I had a strong dose of it in

uk running our restaurant.....just different problems.

Hope that you are busy this season.

Would like to see your place.....on line?

Barbara, we only have a gite which is top class, but I only provide a light supper on arrival for those who have come from a long way.

French bureaucracy prevents me from doing anything more.
