Tineco floor cleaner

I’ve been looking at the Tineco S5 floor cleaner as a quick and efficient way of keeping all my tiled floors clean, as find if quite painful to vacuum and mop. If anyone has any experience with such a machine I’d be very interested in feedback as seeing a good reduction for black friday.

Can’t tell you what one of those is like.

I can say one of those Vileda spray mops is excellent on tiled/wooden floors and is 1/10th of the price.

I have a different brand, rowenta I think, and it sit unused and is waiting for me to put it on LeBonCoin. I bought it sight unseen and was a big mistake as very awkward to manipulate, leaves streaks, and I hate the scratchy noise it makes on the tiled floor. The only way it worked is if I cleaned the floor first and just used it to perfect the first clean - not something I thought was worth the rime and effort.

Do you have one of those so personal experience? Where does the water go?

Thanks for the feedback - starting to put questions in my mind so will try to do some more research today, but for me, I’m tramping in and out of the house alot and the tiled floors seem to be permanently dirty. I regularly vacuum but must confess, I’m not mopping all that often as it’s always such an effort, then takes an age to dry in winter. The attraction for me was not having to mop separately and getting clean floors in one hit. I’m not bothered if any streaks, more so if the floors are clean.

We have a robot vac/mop. It’s very good on the vac side of things although not great on the mop side, but passable. It was quite a cheap one so there may be ones that mop better. We have a modern single storey property of about 100 m2 all tiled and it does it all comfortably on a single charge. If you have a multi storey house then I assume it’s a bit trickier ?

Edit: If you just have a problem with a certain area, with mine you can have different programs that do different areas. However I think if you have a really muddy floor then a robot probably wouldn’t be suitable

That’s an interesting alternative! I had thought about that some time ago, but somehow discounted it due to the fact that I couldn’t see how it could manage with lots of furniture, table legs, ‘stuff’ on the floor, plus various corners in some rooms that may be a little tricky to access. I also live in a single storey house, so if my fears are nullified, that could be an option. Thinking about it, it could even force me to stop dumping ‘stuff’ on the floor

Yes, obstructions are an issue. What we do is take everything we can off the floor, move other easily moveable furniture to one side and sweep with a brush then move it back. No need to get the dust up. Then open all the doors and let it go. It sounds like a faf but only takes 5 minutes. The only issue you may have is your muddy floors. Ours probably wouldn’t cope with that although you may find one that does.

I have the Tineco and have no complaints about it at all. Obviously you have to empty the dirty water holder each time or it will smell like the drains and wash that holder thoroughly but apart from that, it is so handy to run round after the family have left and hoover up bits as well as wash and dry quickly at same time. Charging only takes a very short time too. The detergent can be bought on Amazon when you need it and often I just use water plus it goes over thin mats and carpets and cleans those too.

As a matter of interest, how long have you had it? And very roughly how many times per month would you say you use it? And is it the S5 or another model, as it seems like there are a few out there?

Some good persoective, thanks. I think I’ll take a look to see if there’s one that can also deal with more dirty floors, but I fear it may be a little pricier, but an option:+1::+1:

The other question is whether you have a pet? I found that the one I had couldn’t cope with hair, so had to sweep it up first. And how tall you are. Mine was designed for small people, so is backbreaking as can’t use it standing up straight, I had to bend a bit which became uncomfortable very quickly.

I’ve gone back to manual! Quick sweep and then mop is much easier on my hands and shoulders than a machine. I only vacuum on special occasions.

It’s the iFloor5 and have had it just under a year. My son bought the Dreame one at same time and it’s now been replaced!!! I use it at least once per week depending on traffic and I am all tiles with a thin rug under the coffee table and a waterproof mat at the door whichnI go over with instead of the vacum.

I’ve managed to escape the pet hair problem, rightly or wrongly😁, so just have the general mess that I create to contend with, but in many ways that could actually be worse than a pet😂

I’m just attracted to what looks like the relative simplicity. I vacuum clean, so if that time and effort can also contribute to , effectively, mopped floors, then it appeals greatly, as minimizing time and effort cleaning is right up there with all those other high priorities!

Essentially in the handle, it uses a very small amount, and you just wash the actual mop head cloth at the end of the job.

Yes, you need to vacuum first to remove larger debris.

We have wooden/tiled floors throughout - once the vacuuming is done (which doesn’t take long) mopping is 20 minutes or so max (150m2) - and that includes emptying the general detergent used for the tiles and changing to the stuff for the wood.

Thanks that’s useful to know, and sounds like my use would be similar, with all tiled floors and using probably once per week :+1:

What type of tiles are they? You have to be careful with what cleaning products you use on terracotta tiles.

I have ceramic tiles so guess impervious, so assume it would be ok for me.

I’m a sweep and mop girl as well. Much easier on aches and pains and saves on the elecs. I’m not pernickety but would hoover every so often

Our tiles remain clean due to my wife’s genetically relayed Afrikaner/Dutch home cleanliness needs.

If not walking Gigi, she’s usually mopping.

Still, better than moping…

She doesn’t have a twin does she???:joy:
