UK* & EU Licence Exchanges

thank you….. that really helps

Hello JWM, do you hold an EU citizenship passport, if not then your passport isn’t required, only your CdS is accepted as as your ID, if you do then it’s just the picture and info page.

As a note your counterpart is no longer legal you only have a photocard, it was discontinued in 2015 and the DVLA tell you to destroy it.

No you can’t add documents to a submitted application you have to wait for ANTS to request the missing bits, plus if your CdS expires during this process they will want a copy of the new one.

The DVLA attestation should have been uploaded originally, there was a section at the bottom to add additional documents to support your application on the document upload page. You will have to wait to be asked.

Passports are only accepted ID for EU citizenship/French citizenship. If you are required to hold a CdS then that is your accepted form of ID. :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you….. so sit tight and get it right when asked!

dont apply again??

if my entitlement to drive doesnt expire till 2028 is it likely based on my insurer that i will be able to continue to drive (essential as we are kms from any where.. )

Is this only in a driving licence context? I have been specifically asked for passport ID in other places, ie hospitals.

The choice is yours but if you do apply again you must upload a letter in the additional support document section, where the DVLA attestation also goes, to ask for your first application no. xxxxx to be cancelled and to process only this one.

It depends on your insurance company as to whether they will continue to insure you with an expired photocard, you need to run it past them, legally to drive in a country, other than the one the licence was issued in, you must also have a valid card, however, I cannot give legal advice but it’s mainly accepted as long as you have an application to exchange in the system you will be ok as long as column 11 is valid.

If you used the ephoto code its a one time use so you need a new one.

And ensure front and back of your licence and CdS, leave at least 1cm around the edges of the card, do NOT cut the edges off.

Yes licence application/renewals.

Fantastic advice, thank you, i wish I had consulted this thread earlier…

this is a hard lesson if we both (as OH expires too) cant drive after august as we live kms from the nearest town/village

Depends who your insurance company is but as long as you have an application in progress most are fine.

Just an update , my application for french dl has now been rejected and i have to start again… they didnt like the photo… sp i need to start from scratch… luckily i have a photo digitally approved for uk passport.. will try that

but why didnt they just let me send a new photo??

really fed up……

Did you use a photo booth hard copy photo or the ecode?

I found the process simple: go to one of the recommended photographers (one of ours was at the stationers we use), and get the nice lady to take a photograph.

If I remember correctly, she was able to confirm there and then that it was acceptable.

I used ecode from photo booth, which was approved….. booth suggested pic was ok.

its taken 5 months to get to this stage, now i start again and wait 6-8 months and pay 40 euros fro the privilege.

why couldnt they ask me to resubmit the photo??

Unfortunately it happens. Do you have a local affiliated photographer who can give you the code. Put your original application pdf in the 7 additional documents and handwrite application rejected due to photograph. This should mean you will be processed quicker as they had got to you but just your photo failed.

No not possible to reactivate an application if the photo has been rejected.

They do seem to fail less than the physical and ephoto from a booth.
