We've got Covid šŸ™„

Couldnā€™t find any recommendation for 8000 IU per day ā€¦

But you canā€™t easily skip to the bit that really interests you and can thus get tiresome.

Get better soon. Take care :four_leaf_clover::cherry_blossom:

The point is, if the level is good you can save your money, if not, you know you need a strong supplement. Better than taking something ā€œblindā€!

Need another category, think Iā€™ve got/had covid .

Hope you get well soon, with no lasting ill effects. Reading all about the symptoms (and obviously listening to my wife ) I possibly have it too, but using an old LFT it says no.

Some come with time stamps but I agree, even proffs waffle.

Oh dear, @John_Scully ans @Mark, do hope you are getting better soon :hibiscus::cherry_blossom::blossom:

You may find that taking paracetamol regularly helps alleviate symptoms. Just remember to stick to minimum four hour gaps and donā€™t exceed the daily limit!

For a fun bit of reading from Dr Google there is this

And then the inevitable contradiction

So, really anybodyā€™s guess :face_with_spiral_eyes:. Do hope youā€™re feeling better by now.

To me, any article that suggests taking gatorade should be thrown in the bin.

It seems to be suggesting that one snorts oregano too.

The article is from the early days three and a half years ago. It also states ā€œwhile there is as yet no antiviral medication recommended for treating COVID-19ā€ while I was put on Paxlovid immediately. From reading the blurb itā€™s very effective.

My arm was pretty sore the evening after the recent vaccination. I took a paracetamol as they had recommended and it seemed to do the trick.

I di not mean to worry anyone, especially as we already seem to have an Omicron version currently ripping through France, but the WHO is trying to see (without much will transparency being offered) a possible new threat as it is evolving in China

The World Health Organization has formally requested that China share detailed information about a recent increase in respiratory illnesses, citing unconfirmed media reports of undiagnosed pneumonia in children.

China has been reporting a jump in respiratory illnesses for months. Chinese media reports have described long lines at pediatric hospitals, and doctors have said that this yearā€™s wave appeared to be more severe than those of previous years.

The National Health Commission has not released overall statistics about the surge in illness. But at one childrenā€™s hospital in Anhui Province, doctors performed 67 bronchoscopies in one day, compared with 10 on a normal day, according to a report by the local government. State-run media in the city of Hangzhou, in eastern China, reported that outpatient pediatric visits at one hospital had tripled from last year, when the Covid restrictions were still in place. About 30 to 40 percent of those children had been diagnosed with mycoplasma pneumoniae, the article said.

May be nothing to worry about

_ In other countries, infectious diseases besides the coronavirus also spiked after the authorities lifted pandemic restrictions. It is possible that the same is happening in China, especially as there is evidence that prior infection with the coronavirus makes people more susceptible to other diseases. Chinese doctors have said patients in this round appear to have mixed infections, or drug-resistant ones, which may be making symptoms worse._

This report from ProMED, a disease tracking site run by the International Society for Infectious Diseases, which highlighted some of the earliest reports of the 2003 SARS virus and SARS-CoV-2

This report suggests a widespread outbreak of an undiagnosed respiratory illness in several areas in China as Beijing and Liaoning are almost 800 km apart. It is not at all clear when this outbreak started as it would be unusual for so many children to be affected so quickly. The report does not say that any adults were affected suggesting some exposure at the schools. ProMED awaits more definitive information about the etiology and scope of this concerning illness in China.

It is too early to project whether this could be another pandemic but as a wise influenza virologist once said to me ā€œThe pandemic clock is ticking, we just do not know what time it is.ā€

I had my Flu vaccine on Monday. Which is now probably happily hanging out with my Covid virus somewhere in my upper bronchi, and Iā€™m booked in for my pneumonia vaccination on the 4th. I just need an anti pangolin vaccine to have the full winter Sino safety kit.

For each appointmentā€¦ we were asked if we were ā€œwellā€, ā€œunwellā€ā€¦ that sort of thing, before any vaccine was stabbed into usā€¦
and in one instance the thermometer was aimed at our foreheadsā€¦ to prove that we werenā€™t fighting anything I presumeā€¦
or perhaps just to confirm we each had a brain ( )

Hope you feel well enough for the Pneumonia oneā€¦ :crossed_fingers:

It seems to be doing the rounds in the UK too, as my wife appears to have had it after our sojourn over there last week - a bunch of the residents in the old peopleā€™s home we visited seemed to have it, albeit passed off by the care home as ā€œcolds with diaorrheaā€.

Thats why its called a pandemic :joy:

Yes, unfortunately on Monday I would have answered well. We even went out to dinner on Tuesday night for muy wifeā€™s birthday. I was just floored yesterday, so the timing couldnā€™t have been more inappropriate for the jab.

That does sound rather menacing!

OH is the brave oneā€¦ and tells me it is painlessā€¦ but I have a morbid fear of needlesā€¦ aaargh

EDIT in fairness to the Docs and Infirmiers who do these jabs/bloodtests/whateversā€¦
they are all as gentle as can be. Daft old me goes into a blue funkā€¦
