Are there any experienced shoppers who knows what this labelling actually means?
Which bit? 20% less plastic in the packaging?
Wellā¦ chickpeas are a type of beanā¦ as far as I knowā¦
this labelling tells me that they are grown in France and sold by French businessesā¦ and that they were packed at Merville as per the map of France ā¦
The nutriscore A tells me they are good healthwise
re the -20% plasticā¦ this relates to the packagingā¦
500g is the weight
someone will come on in, if Iāve completely lost the plotā¦
As @JohnH says, packaged in Merville using 20% less packaging (than what, we are not told, unless the asterisk helps),
Itās a joke people! I presumeā¦ā¦.
Yes it the one where some clown says baby bird urine. Doh!
I have often seen less fat, less sugar, less salt etc. referring to the contents but never less plastic in the packaging. I am obviously less observant than most. But I am still uncertain what it is 20% less than.
Perhaps it was originally in a 20% larger plastic bag!
I think youāve hit the nail firmly on the head ā¦
Less than the previous version of the packaging.
Sadness, judging by how they taste.
No! Hummus and poppadoms, for a starter, are made from chickpeas.
Let alone panisse that are a delight and dare I say better than a potato chip?
Theyāre fab! I use them all the time. They make an excellent āfillerā added to the vegetable stews I make to accompany whatever meat I cook, as a substitute for potatoes/pasta/rice, in an effort to fight the flab.
The g/f was for making hummus from the raw ingredients. This starts with boiling chick peas for hours. She put a large pot of them on a low simmer and set off to the shops, pausing at the pavement where a pal was coaching me on replacing the brake drums of a Citroen Dyane, me with my head in the wheel arch.
āPlease turn off the gas in an hour from nowā
āNo chance, loveā said the pal. āWe WILL forgetā
She returned to find the roadside engineering had moved to the other side of the car
āDid you turn off the gas?ā
āErrr ā¦ no. Sorry. We forgot. We did say we wouldā
There remained nobbut a thick layer of charcoal ināt bottom oāt pan.
Moral of that story.
1] Never ask blokes doing roadside engineering to remember anything
2] Use ready cooked chick peas to make hummus
Pre-soak in a thermos and add a good pinch of bicarb so they cook quickly!
Is that like farinata? We had that the other night at friendsā: delicious, sprinkled with salt and lemon.
Those post-hippy days are long gone. I canāt allow myself hummus/taramosalatapate/terrine et al. To flab-makng
Itās been quite ābig newsāā¦ everyone trying to achieve a reduction of plastic in their packaging/whatever
and certain Marques have undertaken to achieve the target of -20%m plastic one way or anotherā¦
those Chick Peas are now packaged in āwhatever mannerā using -20% plastic than previouslyā¦
The amount of plastic used for a CritāAir sticker.
using -20% plastic than previouslyā¦
They shouldnāt be using plastic for conditioning & selling pois chiches, or a lot of other stuff, a brown paper bag would do the trick & then compost the bag.
Is that more galette like? Panisse are chips that you dunk in indulgent things like aoli
