What is going on in Toulouse/Montauban?!

youn said it, double standards... my question is... who are the US govt, or any authority, for that matter, to decide what is right, what is wrong, etc. when colonising a country back in the day, both France and England decided "what is right"... killed anyone that did not comply, and that was the end of story. When you say "political delinquency", i hope you take into consideration that fact that it is the PEOPLE that vote these fukkers into power, term, after term, after term.

ZB, that is double standards that now is main stream thinking, hence to growing unrest between differing groups of people. With the political delinquency we now have in the western world, fostered by inept leaders that fail to grapple with the many problems we face, the financial meltdown being the most pressing. Hence I fear we unfortunately will see more extremist actions become commenplace, a very sad indictment on our society.

soldiers going into war know what they face, hell, on joining the force, you know what may be ahead of oyu... a soldier snaps... yes, I can imagine, but snaps and kills themself....

A Soldier killing others is actually someone VERY screwed up, who joined up FOR the kill, and that should never have passed selection.

One thing I find funny.. one soldier kills 17 odd afghans.. he is ill.

One afghan kills one soldier... he is an islamic extremist...

where is the logic here

I agree, it does tend to destroy ones faith, if one had any in the first place! But one cannot allow the actions of a solitary

madman, to affect ones beliefs. THERE IS so much evil in this world, but has to remain positive, with resolve in the things that one believes in.

Rant finsihed.

Of course, "Vogon poetry is the third worst in the Universe. The second worst is that of the Azgoths of Kria. During a recitation by their Poet Master Grunthos the Flatulent, of his poem, Ode to a Small Lump of Green Putty I Found in My Armpit One Midsummer Morning, four of his audience members died of internal hemorrhaging, and the president of the Mid-Galactic Arts Nobbling Council, survived by gnawing one of his own legs off... The very worst poetry in the universe died along with its creator, Paula Nancy Millstone Jennings of Sussex... in the destruction of the planet Earth."

I'm with you Ciro, have got earplugs in case of suddenly subjected to poetry

Yes, it is . . . going mad!! Whilst the benighted and indoctrinated peoples of this world believe that they are, in some insane way, carrying out the edict of their God through text that is the 'interpreted' word of that being, then we're up the proverbial creek without a paddle!!

I've got my towel and I've located a Vogon constructor fleet upon which to hitch a ride the ***** outta here!!

I presume that there have been tests made to establish if the murderer was under the influence of drugs.

It takes a very deranged person to kill or to desire to kill.

Outside the command of war.

I waited, took breath and thought hard about this. At Quaeda do not cold-blooded kill children, indeed Islam cannot support it in anyway although 'accidents' happen of course. This man held a gun to the girl's face and then fired. The psycho-pathology of that is that he had no compassion. So I am assuming there is much yet to be said about these killings. As for the drawn out stand off with injured police and vast expense, well politicians can explain that, but they will probably not because it will be campaigning collateral. Anyway, the brother is now being held in Paris because of his role in the story, explosives in car and helping to steal the scooter, and may help explain what it was about really. As far as what it has done to public morale, well only time will heal and that may well be long.

Jane you have not understood my point at all.

In school I was taught everything which was relevant to normal education.

Feelings and the understanding of life are not part of education they are a developement of charcacter. They come naturally and do not come as part of an educational script.

I also believe that many exam passes are related to memorising facts, figures, images....SOMEONE who is bright and truely intelligent digests the info and forms their own conclusions. No influiences and no dictation.

Yes I did pass some exams ....but clearly I have my own views.

Not being taught to feel or realise in school is not a reason for not being able to do that when you are an adult.

If we all stopped learning when we left school or university we would be worse off than we are now.

Humanists sincerely hold their beliefs and think that they are guiding and protecting the world without the benefits of religion.

Extremism in in its many guises is the cause of much suffering as is using culture as a religious belief.

oh but I disagree Jane.

Religion is about believing sincerely about something which

guidesprotects and leads the world.

Power is about being part of that leadership.

Comes in many forms as does religion.

Sorry Jane but I look at things and try to define and understand.

I was not taught how to feel or realise in school.

Barbara, power does not get confused with religion any more than it does with politics or culture.

I am really beginning to feel more and more that power needs to be taken away from men!!

There will always be people who see life through different eyes.

Crazy people who do not respect or undstand humanty as we do.
The boundaries of complexities themselved have expanded as

the world has developed....need to concider if I have used the correct word.

How many religions where they when life began?

And why does power get confused with religion?

Yes Jon, it's extremely difficult to get the evidence and I think they acted very quickly with the information they had and put two and two together and got 4 within a couple of days of the third shooting. He'd already been banned from entering the US, a bit difficult to do the same here as he was French and as we don't want to live in a Police State or repeat Guantanamo, unfortunately we have to accept that there will always be nutters, the answer is, as you say, to treat the problem at the source but that will be a far harder and longer process and unfortunately the root problem may become far worse as oil, at the source of it all, becomes scarcer... More needs to be done now to plan for a future without oil but we ought to start a new thread on that...!

... coming back into the country, he was French. As for tagging, Sarko is going further than that and they'll be criminally prosicuted if they have carried out indoctrination/fanatical training etc - things are being done but yes, it's too late for those poor people now suffering and dead

I see what you mean , I'm hearing more on his extremist behaviour , pity they don't electronically tag all people such as him coming into the country :-( poor families

;-)

Yep. He went to a local legitimate dealer - who didn't bother checking if the gunman actually owned the bike! And where is the bike's owner in all this. Stolen last October - did he not report it stolen and activate the tracking device??? Hmmm.

Oh, dear - the problems with cut and paste. I should have credited that to Reuters. Thanks Andrew, but can't take credit!
