What is the Exchange rate for 2025 Impot declaration

Has anyone found the definitive taux d echange rate for filing Impots 2025

Pound sterling / Euro

I have tried the messaging service on the Impots Site , it appears not to be working.

Thank you;

There is not one.

You should convert on the date the amount you received.

I have most of my income already converted to euros but I have to declare some income in the UK, hence the query. In years past I have requested the exchange average and this has been provided yes, it is available somewhere.

You might find this thread helpful. Depending on the methodology used, slightly different exchange rate figures arise eg using the average of beginning of year and end of year exchange rates, eg Ā£1:€1.176 or the ECB 2025 average of Ā£1: €1.1672, Both are in this thread. These and others with similar methodologies are likely to be acceptable to the Impots for recurring income, but should not be used for one-offs, when you should use the rate on the day the income/gains arise.

Yes I always treat that as ā€˜received in France’ but have been told on here that it is wrong, but have never been challenged by the impots.

Thank you George. This is most helpful, I’m only talking about fairly small amounts, paid monthly into a UK bank so I’m fairly sure impots won’t be too picky.

I asked the same question in another thread. I just assumed there was a definitive, impots provided one. At least, that’s what I thought it was whenever I read a rate quoted.

Hello Marko, In previous years I’ve contacted impots and have been provided with a figure. Now, it’s a chat bot which was not working this morning. How easy would it be to provide a figure to work with?

Yep, the boss guy at our local impots gave a figure to me a few years back. Again, I assumed it was some kind of ā€˜official’ rate.

Agree with George. No definitive rate - for large amounts look at the spot rate at the date of the receipt (www.xe.com is useful) for small amounts an average as per the connexion or the ECB average rate for the year (from its website) can work. Worth noting in the return how you got the rate.
Now time for me to do my own Uk and french returns…

Thanks for your reply Paul. I’m going with the ECB option as it’s a small regular amount.
