We watched Sleeping Dogs (Russell Crowe) last night. My oh my, he looks old now. But it was an excellent film and worth watching.
Too many Good years ![]()
Looks like Kim Wexler, but I haven’t got Apple TV+.
Ah, yes, you’re right… I was trying to think where I knew her from ![]()

Well I finished the latest and last Downton offering. Not quite as good as previous offerings but being 1930, things are changing. Nice memories of Maggie Smith throughout. If you are a fan you will probably enjoy it. Starting Spinal Tap 2 later on.
What’s this one called Shiba?, we recently watched one set in same era but with Maggie in it.
Dexter Morgan fans should check out Dexter: Resurrection as it’s a return to the feel of the original 2-3 seasons and much more the Dexter of old rather than “new” Dexter we saw in Dexter: New Blood.
This is the very last of Downton and is called The Grand Finale and came out this year.
Thanks Shiba, I managed to miss this one!
It might not have been released for you yet.
I’ll keep an eye out, thanks
It’s on Amazon UK.
If I could relive part of my life it would have to be encompassed by the very entertaining ‘Cheers’ comedy series in the 1980s/1990s. The relationship between Sam Malone & Dianne Chambers and all the regular characters around the bar. The series was good then and I find it still is. I see nothing around in today’s humour that comes close, for me.
And performed in front of a live studio audience – great stuff!

Did you like Frasier too ?
I did. There were 275 episodes of Cheers over about 11 years I think and Dianne Chambers, played by Shelley Long, was my ‘fave’ for the first 5 years or so until she decided to leave Cheers, when Rebecca Howe, played by Kirstie Alley, took over her part.
There are so many video clips on YouTube which I want to plow through to catch up with all characters, including Frasier.
I thought Ms Alley was a bit galumphing kinda clompy for the part. I don’t know how the actress that played Lilith kept that straight face sometimes.
My favourite was probably Cliff.
In the Frasier program itself, you could almost hear Frasier’s brother Miles (was that David Hyde White?) take the pi$$ out of himself he played that character so well.
I agree.
Shelley Long was just right for the part. However, she decided she leave the series to act fulltime I think in more serious films, but comedy is her thing IMO. Cliff & Norm were also favourites.
Found an opinion piece in the NYT – ‘10 old tv series every kid needs to watch’, about how kids (in the USA) might benefit from them, including the author’s tween daughters, and it included Cheers! (and Faulty Towers!).
This is what was said – “Cheers.” Kids should see a pioneering workplace sitcom, an ancestor of “The Office.” “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” was mother’s milk to me, but it was really all about Mary. “Cheers” was truly an ensemble. I found the relationship between Sam and Diane richer than the one between him and Rebecca, but any episode before Shelley Long left will do, especially after the first season, when the show was still getting its sea legs.”
