Your film or TV series recomendations (2021 and on TV binge)

I’ve just finished Better Call Saul. I thought it dragged on a bit at times, and he became an unpleasant and callous man, but at the end……I can’t say more in case you haven’t seen it.

Breaking Bad is also good and the sequel to BCS despite being made first.

Emma Thompson is, as always, a joy to watch

The series is annoyingly released drip by drip with one episode a week but hey-ho.

I watched BB before BCS. They were both excellent productions.

“Skiftet”, somewhat incorrectly translated as “Policières”, a Swedish series on Netflix about the experimental introduction of female police officers into the Klara district of Stockholm in the late 1950s. Managed to binge watch it, so all things considered, was good enough to hold my shortening TV attention span.

Started to watch a film ‘The Mercy’ on BBC iPlayer and soon realised that it was a film of a true real-life event, that of Donald Crowhurst’s attempt to win the 1968-1969 Sunday Times Globe Race, the first solo, non-stop, around the world yacht race. He faced a plight from which he could only escape by committing suicide.

I was aware of the around the world yacht contests at the time but hadn’t followed the newspaper & TV reporting, and memory of those races are dim, until now. So desperately sad.

The man who won the race, Robin Knox-Johnston, gifted the prize money of £5,000, worth £100,000 today, to the Crowhurst family who lost so much.

Just been and got ice cream and chocolate for a Stranger Things binge this weekend if all the episodes are ready to view or just the first ofthis final series. Loved it all so far.

Do what we do: don’t start viewing until they are all released. Plenty of other content to watch in the meantime.

Five episodes currently to view so enough for the weekend as there is a danger of too much it gets boring

My latest go to is Crash Detectives. Not at all sensational but painstaking observations and measurements by suitable police officers, in the latest one the pair worked into the night with torches marking out the path of the car with little reflective bricks. They were so good that I was ahead of them.

A previous one was where a car driver killed a man on an electric scooter and was in danger of a very serious charge. The result was astounding but I won’t give it away.

And The Hobbit, Sherlock, Love Actually (wonderfully), and many more - I still had to look his name up - Martin Freeman.

My daughter is Wigwam in this

Ive just finished watching the last episode, binge watched every season over a couple of weekends. Found it fascinating, the 3D camera used to recreate the crash scene and placing the vehicles back to original point of impact. Agreed David, the man on the electric scooter was a particularly good episode.

Great series, love the dark humour in it.

Also, disturbingly for some, they were able to download from the car it’s track, time and speed.

@David_Spardo have you watched the episode from the latest series, of the head on crash involving two trucks leaving an industrial estate?
