I know its just a skill I possess. But historically true having studied other earlier civilisations. The bible is just a rewrite of others stories.
I imagine you’re thinking of some parts of the Old Testament (and not the poetic and prophetic books). But if a flood, for example, really did happen (as I believe) then it would be surprising if the only source of that information were the Christian (/Jewish) Bible, wouldn’t it? And doubly so since the story of the Flood is there less to provide historical information than for theology.
You certainly can’t be referring to the New Testament. It’s often said (with justification) that there’s more historical evidence of Jesus’s existence than of Julius Caesar’s, Alexander the Great’s, or Plato’s!
Yes agreed but reports of a great flood came much much earlier. Even Sumarian stories match very nicely with some bible stories.
I suppose it depends on whether you’re a Young Earther or not as to whether that’s a problem. Earth being only 6,000 years old always seemed improbable to me.

Violin (a beautiful instrument when played well, when not played well, however, …)
Seems there may have been more than one flood that seriously disrupted people’s small worlds in ancient times and were recorded in folkloric myths embellished and adapted over time.
Here is some interesting reading of flooding in ancient Mesopotamia as it gave rise to the wonderful Epic of Gilamesh
And, ancient cultures in China also suffered floods
Apologies for the thread drift and lack of humour!
or even older guardian or telegraph readers
I mentioned the two tabloids because IMO their elderly readers are probably less likely to practice yoga or to recognise a yoga class when accidentally chanced upon. Conversely, I’d expect elderly Guardian readers less likely to fail to recognise what was actually happening and not to mistake yoga wear for ‘Arab’ clothing.
“And now I want you to send out peaceful, loving thoughts to all sentient beings on the planet who have exactly the same political, economic, and religious beliefs that you do.”
How on earth do you come to that conclusion about readers of newspapers? Sad that this is becoming another political statement / argument when no need
