Wash and polish sounds good to me. I was dreading the thought of having to go op theatre again and all that palaver. It isn’t cloudy all the time, just every so often but I have noticed it more recently so shall tell the expert at the clinic. It might be they don’t get all the damaged original cataract out and it re-grows, a bit like a cyst if you don’t get the entire sac out as well
Could few of you please mention the names of cataract surgeons if you had a good job done? sooner or later I shall probably need one.
Hi Karen,
Montauban seems to be the specialist place to go from our neck of the woods. My wife’s had both eyes done there in the past couple of years.
I can’t remember the official name of the procedure but it’s really quick, less than 5 minutes in total and a couple of those were taken up with him chatting.
I thought at first maybe they’d missed a bit or regrowing but was assured it was neither and it was highly unlikely to need doing again. He did say that he’d preformed the procedure hundreds of times and never had to repeat it. Best of all after having a 10 minute rest and cup of tea in reception, I was on my way home and completely happy.
Sounds like it was a Yag
Umm, I’m not sure as it certainly didn’t take as long as the article suggests nor was it so involved. I’d visited my regular optician, he’d did a thorough check up and then made an appointment at a specialist eye hospital. They confirmed the diagnosis and did the procedure there and then, I seriously wasn’t in there any longer than 30 minutes and the majority of that time was filling in paperwork and waiting to see the specialist.
Dr Bonneric at https://www.niort-vision.fr/praticiens/. Super man and excellent practice with friendly staff. Expensive but well worth it. ![]()
All the stuff from our larder (see not-cheerful thread) is now sorted and either back in place, ready to give away or binned. It’s great to have living space again.
Nice, I know the feeling. Our narrow pantry was a dusty, mouse ridden glory hole. Everything cleared out metal shelving thrown out and colombage wall plaster boarded, all painted, new IKEA shelving (nothing as beautiful as yours, but supremely functional) and at long last after 20 years we have a space that looks good. I think it will be that which sells the house! ![]()
Thank you Sue. As for the shelving, it’s just cobbled together from some old bits of wood at nearly no cost and then given the patina of 36 years use.
Is that a general hospital in Montauban? Any idea who on their team? I was actually thinking I’d probably end up finding someone in Toulouse eventually but Montauban is fractionally closer
Thanks Rachel.
Going to keep looking out for names in case they all retire etc, while I’m taking my time hoping not to need them too soon.
OH handed in his resignation this week; he retires at the end of the year. ![]()
Congrats to you both. Almost 2 months in, it’s a little different than expected, but I think it will be good.
I am juggling finances at the moment with the hope of not needing to go back to employment having enjoyed the last 3 years
. My worry is if there is a crash on the markets it could really affect pensions and annuity rates are very good at the moment. I don’t retire officially for another 2 years as the goal posts were shifted, with the orange idiot a lot could change market wise.
The process begins with an optician, then you go to an opthalmogist for examination and tests, and then Montauban. Rodez is another specialist centre, but Montauban has the best reputation. Bookings are done online
There’s a cataract team at Saint Hilaire in Agen that takes care of folks in 47 if that’s nearer.
Ate our first baked apples of the season, autumn having truly arrived. ![]()
Still in shorts down here, but all the soft fruit on today’s market had disappeared - and replaced by lots of different apples
Crumble over here, before the parakeets eat them all.
