BBC Internet Radio Gone

I think there are others who can answer that better than I, but you, I and everyone else gets tracked and somehow relevant info about you gets to those who send out spam emails.

I was notified by my virus software (Norton 360) that the ‘dark web’ had somehow tracked my twitter account and advised me to change my password, which I did.

Mine’s just arrived, via the postman. :astonished:
Maybe that message yesterday wasn’t spam after all.

Good heavens - that was quick. Mine’s at Stanford Le Hope, GB now…but on its way.

You’ll probably have yours and up and running before I get any sense out of this thing. Trying to get it to accept the 26 digit Livebox key is a nightmare. Only found a keypad on the screen by accident and then had to scroll up and down through all the numbers, all the lower case and in and out of the upper case and even then it didn’t work. Also it appeared not to accept anymore than 22 digits but, with the memory of connecting the smart tv in mind I ploughed on ignoring the fact that my choices did not appear on the screen. Failed. :rage:

I had problems too when I had my 1st Roberts radio - it didn’t lend itself easily to being set up, really very fiddly, but I did manage in the end, and that was in 2013 and have had no problems with it since - over 9 years.

As they say, try, try and try again - worth it in the long run.

Try just the 1st 16

Just to add, I remember feeling back in 2013 that it was going to be impossible to set up, with what seemed to be a fiddly long-winded antiquated method of doing things, that surely it should automatically find the wifi signal by itself. I don’t remember how it connected and worked as it should but it eventually did. I wouldn’t give Roberts 10 out of 10 for its setting up procedure!

While my DAB radios wait for the technology to reach this part of France, I just use the mobile phone + WiFi.

Connect Nord VPN to UK, slot phone onto a Bose speaker and then listen to BBC Sounds podcasts or iPlayer radio in glorious surround sound. Don’t even need the VPN for Classic FM app.

:notes::musical_note:

I don’t suppose it supports WPS? That would make life a lot easier as it’s just the press of a button on your Livebox.

You’ll forgive me if I sigh and say ‘oh not that again’, because I went through all that with the tv and in the end it really did want all 26, just didn’t show them all on the screen. But if push come to shove I will try it.

@JohnH Now that sounds familiar, it did mention that along the way, I’ll go and have a look at the Livebox.

The only button on that is a picture of what looks like antenna mast with curved lines radiating from it. Is that it?

I don’t think it’s that, all it says is connecting, and now, as expected, failed

The only instruction on the screen was ‘push button on other end’. Other end of what?

My 2013 Roberts radio accepts WPS, so a new one should, I’d have thought.

See above @Bonzocat I can’t find another button to push.

What does DHCP mean? It asks enable or disable.
Pressing enable brings up the keypad, that’s how I got there by accident before

I’m as confused by these things as you are. Click link …Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol - Wikipedia

Yes, well, I wouldn’t be any worse off it it was in Latin.

If it brings up a keypad then it’s waiting for something to be typed in - does anyone know what has to be typed in here?

You can change the Livebox password to something easier than the original.

Yes but I don’t know how to do that, again, been there before with the tv.
Just tried 16 digits failed, though it takes me back to the keypad as if it is waiting for more.

Just found this on Roberts website, looks so simple! But it’s not, is it!

  1. Press the Menu button and select Main Menu.
  2. Scroll to System Settings and find Network.
  3. Select the Network Wizard and find your Wi-Fi network.
  4. Enter your Wi-Fi network password and select Ok.
You only need to connect to your Wi-Fi network once!

Isn’t there a button on the router that you can press to connect a device?

No, only 2 buttons, one switches it off/on and the other doers the same for wifi. Nothing else to push

@Bonzocat No, not simple, I can get to number 4 ok but it won’t accept the result. Is it case sensitive?
