Not inevitably, my work colleagues wife has had covid twice and he hasnt had it once even aft a 3 hour journey in the same car and sharing the same caravan during their holiday.

With cases (and deaths) rising here I just don’t understand why more of the elderly aren’t getting their boosters, the numbers are shocking - 100K+ new cases daily, 20K in hospital and 100+ deaths each day.

Both got ours yesterday, a bit of a performance getting one invalid wife and 2 dogs organised, but we got there ahead of time and was soon done painlessly and only 10 minutes recovery time in place of the previous 15.

No after effects as usual for either of us in fact the only evidence is when I was washing this morning and spotted the little plaster. :joy:

figures as at 6 December…

How about the two dogs? Any after effects for them?

You can ask for home-visits from Doc, Infirmiers, whoever… for your invalid wife.
I appreciate the need for trips to see her Specialist, but the rest can be done at home, which should surely be less stressful for you both (and the dogs…).

Good to know. :crossed_fingers:

Yes, I know, the doctor almost insists on home visits and last time he arrived during the visit of one of the aides so, although I understood everything he said, she was there for translation just to make sure.

For the others a different kettle of fish, and one which puts me off. The nurses and the foot man (not the footman, we haven’t arrived at that level of posh yet ) can only be contacted by phone, the cabinet will not take bookings even though they are based there.

I must ring a number which is never answered so I can’t ready myself with the earpiece for a conversation and have to wait for a return call to tell me when they will come, but if I can’t understand them, or am in a place (shopping for instance) where I can’t check the calendrier to see if the date is convenient, there is little point in the exercise.

I do use the excuse ‘j’ai un probleme d’audition, seulement par sms svp’ (they are all mobile numbers) but they rarely use them.

Good grief… glad I’m not in your area.
Here, we ring the Infirmier (the person and/or the Cabinet) and an appointment is arranged. If there’s no-one there, the phone isn’t answered… fair enough.

Makes me wonder how the elderly in your area ever get their visits organized…

I’m wondering if there is another number you could be calling.
(We’ve left hospital with prescription for Infirmier to visit OH that evening/next day… to administer urgent medication/whatever…
No way could one just wait and see if and when someone phones back… )

It’s very likely that those who miraculously escaped COVID just had a low level infection without symptoms, not generating enough viraemia to be detected in a lateral flow test. They might well still be a source of infection to vulnerable individuals.

:frowning:

I was of course talking about nurses and pedos, doctor’s appointments can be made by phone, DoctoLib, or in person at the cabinet. As I now pass the place at least twice a week now there is no problem with booking the doctor.

well, that’s good… now all that’s needed is a proper way for you to contact the Infirmier/Nurse folk.

Perhaps he had it but symptomless?

Non at all Sue, they are so tolerant of each other and share the cage which is really not much bigger than Jules with little more than an occasional grumble, which is not even a growl. We even took the opportunity to drop into the vets to weigh them both. Jules 37 kgs just the same as he was when he arrived a couple of years ago, and Opie 27 kgs, exactly the same as she was when weighed by the SPA vets back in August. So I will continue to resist all pleadings that they are being starved.

No probs either for their own jabs a while ago, we are all so well behaved and adjusted, jabwise. :joy:

I’ve had blood tested twice to see if that was the case for me, because my Dr couldn’t believe I hadn’t had it - but no I haven’t ever had COVID. I have, however, had 4 jabs so far.

Not forgetting the jabs dont stop it, they reduce the severity. Good to hear you have havent had covid, I was thinking it was just me

And me and OH - fingers crossed. I put it down to our healthy lifestyle.
