In the old (pre-auto )days Mercedes was quite popular in Spain and Latin America and not the least bit blingy, whereas nowadays it’s more akin to Chardonnay and other such aspirational names.
We don’t have children, so have never had to worry about that sort of thing, but throughout my life I’ve kept a mental file of beautiful and silly names I’ve encountered - at primary school a couple of Ukrainians whose surname was ‘Cyan’ - one of the most beautiful shades of blue, but in the same class was another Ukrainian whose surname was Duda, pronounced ‘doodah’. According to Google, I now know that it originally meant someone who played the (presumably Ukrainian) bagpipes badly - don’t know of a Scottish equivalent but would be happy to learn of one.
Amazing how easily one can drift off the subject of the thread, but that’s also part of the charm of reverie (rather than the wanderings of an elderly mind).

The figures are deceptive.
This called the base rate fallacy - you can’t just compare numbers of a specific condition (vacc or no vacc) without considering the total number in each of the two groups. This list shows approx twice, in one day, as many +ve cases in the vaccinated as in the unvaccinated. But there are many, many more people in the vaccinated category, so the actual proportion of vaccinated testing +ve is very small. In fact, due to the overwhelming number vaccinated, it is going to be much lower than the proportion of unvaccinated testing +ve.
In addition :

And we also know that the various vaccines are effective in reducing and even preventing symptoms in fully vaccinated people. And they reduce the severity of illness, but they don’t completely prevent infection. So a vaccinated person can be a potential case and won’t know for sure unless they have symptoms and/or a test.

When I look at the constuency of anti-vaxers I see an unstable coallition of ultra left, ultra right , so-called libertarians and a few loony ultra Christians and QUANON believers who think the Earth’s only 5000 years old (and flat) or that Hilary Clinton eats babies in a NYC pizza parlour!
Well all that may seem very plausible to some, but one has to wonder about their capacity for reasoned analysis and evaluation of the relative reliability of information resources.
