Well thank goodness for that, if we ever have to share a car park.
I have a hybrid-diesel… The worst of both worlds! ![]()
If one end doesn’t get you, the other will ![]()
Slight deviation, what do people think of gas/ petrol combos such as the Dacia’s, including the Jogger, which have it?
I am just wondering why someone would drive around with a tank of highly explosive gas under their car is it propane? Waiting for the ‘boom’ if it’s rear-ended? And if it doesn’t get rear-ended, then have the gas system corrode and leak dangerously after about 5 years? Plus double maintenance costs as it still has a petrol engine to maintain, as well…?
Is it all worth it for a range of 1,000 km between refuels? Or have I guessed wrong, and worrying unnecessarily?
The tanks are incredibly strong and usually mounted outside the crumple zones. Dual fuel will mean the upper cylinders are lubricated frequently whereas pure LPG burns so clean the upper cylinder wear is quite high.
LPG/GPL has long had an appeal due to it’s lower price, as well as burning much cleaner than petrol.
However, a vehicle consumes more gas per km than petrol & the price is creeping up . LPG/GPL is also a product of a very dirty industry.
If one links the extra maintenance risk with the fact that LPG is still a fossil fuel then I’d not see it as a viable option for the future.
P.S. LPG pumps seem to be be a lot rarer than EV charging points too.
I see that Ford seems to have gone big on E85, but I know nothing about it other than it’s about half the price of 95 or 98. Some worth looking at?
Interested to read today that Stockholm will ban petrol and diesel cars from the city centre from 2025.
No. It’s still a perpetuation of the myth that combustible fuels have a future.
I have seen it a couple of reports it was a Range Rover diesel hybrid that went up, when you see the videos it was some explosion ![]()
Also I believe being phased out so better do some research before choosing that option?
The explosion is a bit weird as it looks like the roof came down just before the explosion, I wonder if the fire weakened the roof allowing the panels to come down on the car.
It certainly does look like structural failure, surely not more bad concrete. Noted that the builders went into administration a couple of months prior.
Just fluorescent lighting I think, and it’s possible there was a shock wave ahead of the flame front making it look as though the lights falling was prior to the conflagration.
I will try to find the other view as it shows parts of the roof coming down just before the explosion, it was on sky but they have removed the video.
This seems an interesting halfway possibility for older ICE cars
Couple that up with the best axial flux motor from the UK and it could have legs, or wheels ![]()
Looks like a car fell through the ceiling to me.
Me too, looks like a structural failure. Cant see a fluorescent light weighing maybe 0.5kg causing more paintwork damage unless by some freak accident the 240v electrics caused something to overload.
Looking over the videos again, looks like the fire was on the floor above and caused the structural failure dropping the lot on the roof of the car we can see in the video.
