Yes, that bit I got but it sounds like you were expecting something more for the driver.
In what way?
This way. Iâm just curious what else youâre paying for to insure the driver. Obviously I have no idea of your situation but Iâm at an age where, other than healthcare, most âpersonalâ insurances are pointless and poor value.
I agree but I was forced to take it for six months. Why just six months? I have no idea. I did not like it either that it was online. I am not very Internet savy.
How long ago was this, are you within the cancellation period?
Yes, I signed the contract on Tuesday of this week.
Hopefully not ![]()
I think that should be⊠and/or kick the bucket. Your demise doesnât have to be as a result of a car accident. Just if you pop your clogs for any reason before then end of the lease.
This is different to your car insurance. I have neighbours whose leased car was written off on the autoroute (not their fault) with six months of the lease still to run. The insurance company paid out to the leasing company (Renault Mobilize Financial Services) but they still had to pay the final six months lease payments.
Iâd recommend you take out the insurance, I did when I leased the R5e. Itâs not very expensive and itâs bundled into the monthly lease charge.
Called Gap insurance, or used to be
I could have done with that for my year off between school and university⊠![]()
Renault said that I had to take out the death insurance. So that in the case of my demise, my children will not have to repay the leasing amounts left to pay. Strictly a death insurance. Car insurance does not cover the demise of an insured person.
I think I will keep this death insurance. You never know. Like you said that it was not muchâŠ.
I donât know the answer to this but are children responsible for debts of a parent in France?
Depends on the rates used and how many hands the policy passes through, all of whom want their slice. A std policy from an insurance company direct possibly better.
That was what the Renault sales person said. Mind you he has told me many untruths.
It would come out of the estate and, if the estate is insufficient, the children could be pursued but I think they can renounce the inheritance.
The problem really comes if the estate is primarily the house, which can be slow to sell, resulting in the debts needing to be paid before the assets are realised.
A similar situation to Barclays bank and one of my clients, they would not grant her a loan without them selling her an insurance policy. On her behalf I wrote them a letter saying that was illegal. They of course ignored it, then years later the high court deemed it illegal and the whole mis selling thing took off, turned out to be a great savings plan for her as they had to hand back the premiums and interest at a slightly higher rate than you would have normally got from an account plus a bit more for the whole inconvenience thing.
For me too - I was mis-sold an employment protection policy for my Barclaycard account by Barclays (otherwise known as âthe thieving Ba**ardsâ) - it was invalid as I was self-employed.
When the scandal hit and they were forced to repay premiums (premia?) with interest I got ÂŁ12KâŠ
Nice! Serves them Right!
You can cancel the death part of the insurance after the first year, I did with no problem. They acted on my email but I sent the traditional registered letter as well.

The sales man said that I could cancel the insurance after six months?
Do I write the same format in the registered letter?

Well, that turned out allright for your client. I wonder if I should see the âQue Choisirâ customer defence group. Maybe they could help me with this .
