Is anyone sunbathing?

A moisturiser with retinol is a must . Retinol is the only scientifically proven additive that can reduce and prevent wrinkles. But genetics play a huge part in state of your skin. Look at your folks skin as they age. If one is very wrinkly and one smooth skinned then hope you’ve inherited the latter!

Only if you wear enough sunblock and reapply it regularly.

There’s an expression “Face or Figure”. My mother as she aged gently grew plumper, as did her face, so she had beautifully smooth skin in her 80s. My grandmother, thin as a rake, died in her 70s, with very wrinkly skin.

Ahh yes when you havent got any evidence just invent a plausible enough excuse.

Think they’re pretty sure it was caused by sun exposure.

Sadly, for whatever reason, folk can get a cancer of some sort…
I’m from a generation whose kids ran wild, day in day out, in the sunshine and fresh air.
Quite possibly, if one of us was susceptible… in later life it might only take a small amount of sun to cause skin-cancer…
it’s certainly something to be aware of and be wary of…

For what it’s worth….

I just had a dip in the pool and can report:

Outside air temp 28c after a long cloudy day topping 32C.
Yesterday was 38c and sunny.
Pool currently 29C on the surface and 28C at deepest part.
Pool is salt water cement built in ground 8mts X 5mts X 1.5-2mts gradient depth.
Pool heater not currently being used.
Rescued a lizard from drowning.

It certainly does! Lovely oasis.
Any chance of another view of your abri, looking to make similar for next year. Thank you for the info.

Basically, a barn roof attached to the rear garden wall + 2 old fluted wooden columns. Roof tiles as the house but no interior bâche. Bamboo plank platform (with cavity below for lizards.) Never needed to install the ceiling fan because open sides almost always breezy.

Spot the dog!

Cavapoo? Wonderful setting, I will also use old tiles from our roof and deck in a light looking wood or composite.

Labradoodle!

The abri is quite big. Fits two day beds, four chairs and other bits of furniture. Plenty of room for 6-8 pax to escape the rays. Linen hangings along the sides during summer waft in the breeze, creating a feeling of cool and keeping away insects. (Pics show winter covers)

If only I looked at your avatar, I could have easily seen your labradoodle. Duh!

That’s OK. I get asked at least twice a day by village visitors what our dogs are. My husband says I should have printed cards to hand out.
:paw_prints:

It was because hiding behind the pillar I could only guestimate size and features. There is a chocolate brown onr we meet on our walks with our pupster.

We have a pair of doodles. This one is Agnes, medium sized 22kg. Maud is bigger at 30kg. Agnes is the one with a periscope tail. Maud has a fluffy coffee table clearer tail.

Don’t know about sunbathing but it is very warm here in Brittany at the moment - but it’s that sort of rather humid sort of warmth which makes work difficult.

Currenly managing about 20 minutes in the garden then having to come in for 10 minutes to cool down, dry off and rehydrate as I’m melting.

Even in Normandy it’s 32c and very humid :hot_face: I’ve managed 30 minutes working outside, just had to put my head under a cold shower!

The sun is too strong to swim until the evening.

Positively arctic conditions down here in 66, only 28°C currently. Enjoying being able to sleep last couple of nights.
